❛ 'xcuse me. Gotta go lie down in traffic right now. ❜
Stares at her like something horrific is happening to her. "Ew! Didn't anyone ever tell you if you make a terrible face, it'll get stuck like that?" He's trying his hardest not to break character. "Gross!"
When is something horrific NOT happening to her? A woman's body is a body of pure, disgusting terror. A bear woman's body even more so.
"You talkin' from experience, buttmunch? Looks like you're a walking, talking health services poster boy for it!"
Darcy plants her hands on the counter and leans forward, "or did you take a look in the mirror and scare yourself so bad you made it even worse?"
The corner of her mouth twitches. She wants to smirk but if she DOES then it'll crack it something too nice. She won't be the one to break first, god damnit.
Completely ignores that Logan is in the room making a beeline for the closet. Yes, he's having a panic attack. No, he doesn't want to talk about it. He yanks it open, walks in, and closes it behind him. He takes Logan's coat, shrugs it on, and tucks himself against the wall in a W sit, pressing his forehead to the floor to ground himself.
That's not good. He doesn't even have to look up to realize the problem. He knows that scent, bitter and salty and metallic, and the elevated pulse and breathing. Quen was in a rough place. Something had set him off. Logan didn't know what it was, but right now, that wasn't important. What mattered was getting him settled. Logan moves slowly, closing the door and flicking the lights off. There's just enough light in through the window that it's dim, not dark.
"Hey, kid." He says softly. He takes a seat about a foot away from Quen and rests his arms on his knees. "Want me to get you some water?"
@k1domega asked:
Clutching Sophie's corpse to his chest, he stares up into the thing wearing Miss Frost's face. "Can I talk to Emma? I know you don't like me much, but I brought Sophie... I don't know where Esme's buried, but your other bugs hid in the closet. Everyone here is mad at me because they think I'm going to set a angry bird god free , or it might be me they hate. I did cause a lot of problems to make this deal. It's okay." Gently petting the hair out of Sophie's face, he sets her down fussing over her dress. She was so young, and loved. Everyone here save for his fellow parasite is loved.
"It's okay. I'm sorry I got you killed, Sophie. I'll make this right. You know, your sisters hid in a closet to get away from me? Isn't that dumb of them?" Running his thumb over her sunken in cheek, he sniffles.
"I don't understand you adults. You're all fuckin' miserable. You want Scott because Jean loves him. You have Miss Frost because she took what Jean had. Poor Mister Logan is all hung up on Jean because she likes the attention. You're an omega level mutant Quentin be more like Jean Grey. I'm not a pretty girl, or a pretty mean girl like the vessel you're puppeting. I'm not even a cute girl, and I'm not a very good ugly boy either. I am mean though. I learned that from my daddy before I killed him. If you don't get out of Miss Frost, I'll make Jean look like an adorable kitten. I'll break the locks Charles and I put on my potential..... I'll make you regret landing on the container MY VESSEL was kept in.... but if you fix them... and take me instead, I will help you find what you're desperately searching for. You brought me back from a place that loved me, maybe we can find somewhere that loves you? Maybe you keep trying to burn this place and other terrible places to the ground because it's not meant for things like us. Things like us don't get good people to love us. We are ruin, and suffering."
Cold fingers reach up to cradle Emma's face, eyes glowing a solid white. "You're such a sad thing, reduced to little bug. You're searching for belonging, fractured into pieces." Blood drips from his nose. "Come on. Let her go. We can go somewhere new away from these terrible people. Did you know Mister Wagner punched me? I think I hate him."
The entity bearing the face of one Emma Grace Frost regards the pink haired punk with a mixture of interest and wonder. Emma's mind tells it - this boy is immature and the girl in his arms was not one to reciprocate his emotions.
Still, it wants to believe. It craves connection, and love, and care. It craves new experience and vast quantities of energy to feed itself.
The ramblings from the kid barely register on the raptor's radar; instead it focuses on the desperation, the need, and the hunger emanating from him. All things that the firebird was familiar with.
For a split second, the phoenix turns its attention to the form in Quentin's arms. Emma struggles against its control when she sees it, her dead daughter - even if she doesn't know yet that she can claim her as her own flesh and blood. A pang of pain, a surge of love, and the need to acquiesce and resurrect Sophie takes over the vessel that the cosmic entity is occupying.
The finger on her face are unwelcome, and she turns her head in the opposite direction. A rebuttal of sorts, though the Phoenix is considering to leave its current host to inhabit a new one. A wretched, capable host over a loved, incapable one. Neither choices are ideal, but those are the only choices it has at this point.
Jean... Jean doesn't want to be back. Not yet. So maybe... maybe... it can make do with the child until it can go back to where it truly belongs. This one isn't phased by the potential of destruction, doesn't have petty moral squabbles over menial matters like feeding oneself.
"Yes. You will be sufficient - for now."
Emma's form falters, the flames slipping through her fingers as she grasps Quentin's hand. Slipping from one host to another.
The people who love and care for Emma are concerned - but it can also sense that they're relieved to get their inadequate, weaker mate back. Relief and a sense of inadequacy permeate Emma's thoughts as the power slips away from her and gets siphoned into Quentin.
She lands in Scott's arms, her gaze on her girl in the raptor's arms, tears pricking at her eyes as she can see the power of life restoring her pupil. Her girl.
What will the Phoenix do if she rejects Quentin? Will it kill her again? The temptation to turn into diamond so that she wouldn't feel a thing is great.
slowly sucks air through his teeth making a horrible staticky squeak. "Can we go get food? I'm BORED."
If it was Logan's first day, he would've flinched. Would've cussed or snarled or something like that. But it's not his first day, and he's used to it, so he doesn't. He does glower in Quen's direction, though. The kid earned that much.
"Fine." He says, putting his book down. He stands with a grunt, stretching his shoulders and patting his pockets. "Just lemme grab my keys, we'll take the truck. What're ya' feelin'?"
“ SO, YOU THINK of what to say & save it for another day, @k1domega. ” / lyrical sc.
holds out a juice barrel and straw to gabby. "Open dis, p'ease?" both are shaking violently. (tiny quen)
Gabby has to refrain from shaking herself. This tiny candy floss colored kid is so cute! With all the dignity she can muster - none - she reaches for the two items, and combines them almost effortlessly. Of course she spills a few drops of juice, but she figures that it's okay as most of it is still in the barrel.
She hands the assembled item back to the pink haired kiddo. She's seen him with Logan, and she figures he's a student or one of the mentees of the old man. "What's your name? Mine's Gabrielle - Gabby for friends." She smiles a winning smile, the kind of smile of someone used to people seeing her cuteness and folding. She motions towards the peaceful pet munching on a chew toy near her. "This is Jonathan the Unstoppable, a literal wolverine and my best friend."
