KACE AND AILEEN FINALE. Rp drabble between two of my alts. Father and daughter.
((this is the follow-up and closing to the drabble I started not too long ago. CW to death, blood, and mention of drinking. Everything below the Read More))
Aileen exited the Atheneum for the last time. As the door shut behind her she let out a sigh and wiped what tears may have been forming in her eyes. Her hands were shaking as she said to herself, “W-well, I tried. I really tried. I wanted to stay. Time to settle this.”
She pulled a linkpearl out of her pocket and set it in her ear, a familiar voice rang, and Aileen smiled softly, “Ser, I’m afraid that complications have arisen. I will not be making it to base. N-no, there’s not much that can be done. No ser, neither the Remnants nor the target are responsible. This was something I got into on my own accord. The girls? No ser, they are.. I haven’t seen them in some time. Last I heard they were in Azys Lla. I.. This is Praefectus Aileen Sas Fairholm, relieving herself of duty due to imminent death.”
Kace slammed the glass down on the crate and let an exasperated sigh escape his lips. It was one of many empty glasses. From there he arose and exited the Scorpion’s Crossing. It was a short trek to Northern Thanalan, surely. But he’d been sober for long enough that he felt uncomfortable.
It was an eerie night, to say the least. He’d walked for about an hour until he came upon a shadow in the distance. This shadow took the form of a cloud. A black cloud? Kace narrowed his eyes, “Oi, what’s a cloud doin’ down here? Shuddn’t you be flyin’ high?”
The cloud grew closer, and quickly dissipated, a demon stood in its place. Not just any demon, Aileen stood before him. Kace stumbled back nervously, “N-no. Why the hells are you out of the Beds?!”
Aileen smiled weakly, “Relax, father. This isn’t what you think. I’m just.. Trying to make your job easier.”
He gripped his blade, “S-seven hells I’m t’drunk fer this. Speak common tongue, will ye’?”
She shook her head and sprung forward. Knowing Kace would hold his blade out, she grasped at it and looked at him with a serious expression, tears forming in her eyes, “You’ve won, you drunken bastard. There’s no need to try and fight. Just.. Please, end me dammit.”
Kace gazed at her, totally confused by what she was saying. “E-eh?”
She let out a sigh, knowing this was going nowhere. She took a deep breath and went for the one thing she knew her family was good at, deceit. “I killed mother. I killed your wife, Marie. With mine own to hands. And blamed you for it. I made Naih’a kill me. And I’m going to be forced to kill Myath, and Niobe, and,” she took another deep breath as tears steadily began to stream down her face. She continued, “Selphie and Aea. You know they’ll make me kill them all. Especially since you sent them to Azys to find Naih’a, who is Garlemald’s to own and use as we see fit.”
Kace looked to her with a sense of estrangement, her tears somehow managing to sober him up enough to process the situation, “Y-you.. You really want me.. To do this?”
She said no words, only nodded amidst the tears.
He stepped back as she fell to her knees. Looking at her, trying to process all of this.
There was about an hour of the two just sitting there. Him entirely too silent, and her blubbering like a child who’s been separated from her parents.
She looked up at him before long, fresh out of tears. The silence driving her mad. But what she saw, she’d never have expected. His face twisted, a grin from ear to ear. He picked his sword up and held it high, still looking off into the distance. His head suddenly snapped down to her and said only one word, “Finally.”
The sword was swung forward with a sense of force that cut clean through Aileen. What little time she had to process his reaction, she couldn’t describe it. But it shook her to the core. Her body was cut clean from the left shoulder to the right of her waist, and what remained of her fell to the floor with no argument. Kace wiped the blade on the clean of her clothes, then sheathed the blade. He began to look around, then lowered himself to the floor. He pulled a sack out of his pack and sighed, “I’ll take you over to the Thaumaturge’s Guild. They’ll pay a nice sum to see what made you work.”
Kace tugged at his shirt gently and took a whiff of himself, for once he didn’t smell of booze, this made him smile. He was in Lavender Beds once more, in front of the Atheneum. As he put his hand on the knob and turned it, he changed his face to a panicked expression.
