I’ve got two friends playing V3 for the first time unspoiled and a third (hopefully) starting soon, so Amamatsu has been HUGE in my brain. Thought I might as well draw them! :D

note: i originally wanted to make this as a fic, but i don’t think i’m ready to commit, so why not just share this headcanon of mine to someone who ships this ship with me? this will have potential spoilers, so i’ll make a cut using “keep reading”.
rantaro, kaede, and tsumugi were one of the participants of the 52nd season of danganronpa.
rantaro was an ultimate adventurer and kaede was an ultimate novelist.
like the previous seasons of danganronpa, rantaro and kaede failed to recall their memories once they woke up.
rantaro, kaede, and the others were forced to participate in a deadly game called killing game by monokuma.
rantaro disliked the idea of killing others for his own gain, and kaede also shared the same view as him.
rantaro and kaede teamed up to search where they could possibly escape, and who was responsible for trapping them in the ultimate academy, but no to avail.
monokuma who got impatient thought of a plan to give each participants a motive.
rantaro was given a motive video of his sisters whose whereabouts were unknown.
kaede was given a motive video of nothing.
kaede disliked the idea that she didn’t have a motive. it must mean that she had no purpose in life or monokuma was messing around with her, but she would rather like the latter than the former.
rantaro noticed that kaede was kind of acting weird.
rantaro asked kaede about it, but she didn’t want to make him worry, so she told it was nothing serious.
rantaro speculated that kaede was bothered about the motive video.
rantaro was very worried, so he would attempt to talk to kaede about it later.
a first murder occured, and it was their duty to investigate who the blackened might be in order to survive.
most of the participants were suspicious of kaede, but rantaro trusted her, so he would find something that would clear her name.
it turned not to be kaede, so rantaro was relieved about it.
rantaro, kaede, and the others were rewarded items that seemed to be junk and a flashback light.
rantaro confronted kaede about to ask how she was doing.
rantaro and kaede had a nice talk.
rantaro assured kaede in which she was thankful that he was there for her.
going to skip the incidents of class trial two to four here, sorry.
kaede asked rantaro if he had a past relationship before, but he answered he never had because he didn’t want to make his partner lonely when he was travelling the globe.
kaede asked rantaro if she could accompany him in his travels once the killing game ended, and he answered he would love to.
kaede without a purpose because she was abandoned in an early age, and survived despite she had no home to return to, but a famous novelist saved her which she considered her father, but her father died in an incurable illness, so she had no home to return to (she recalled these memories through flashback light). but because she considered her classmates a family, and she considered rantaro as someone important to her, so she had a new purpose to live.
rantaro managed to reveal the mastermind which was tsumugi.
only five of them were remaining in the killing game.
tsumugi proposed that in order to end the killing game, two of them must sacrifice themselves.
rantaro came this far, so he would gladly give his life which kaede also volunteered.
kaede didn’t want to leave rantaro.
rantaro wanted kaede to live her life to the fullest which she refused as she promised to accompany rantaro with his adventures.
tsumugi didn’t expect this outcome when she had her script written.
rantaro became the ultimate survivor, and he was the one who got the survivor perks after exposing the mastermind.
rantaro and kaede’s memories got rewritten with another flashback light.
rantaro became the ultimate survivor while kaede became the ultimate pianist.
rantaro and kaede failed to recall the past killing game where they participated, and their memories started anew.
slowly the distance between them are growing until she was the first one to go, and he was the second.

i think tsumugi looked at rantaro and kaede with that disgusted look in that nail polish event was because she doesn’t ship rantaro and kaede together (and it’s not according to her script lol).
