Blessing of the Warrior
A little comic I made to show one of my headcanons for the Kage Warriors. HCs are below the cut.
The markings that Apollo is wearing are what I call the Blessing of the Warrior. They have three parts. 1. The color gold. Kage have to pass multiple trials to become a Warrior, and only those who have passed the trials can wear the color gold. It is the symbol of perfection in Kage society. Acolytes and everyone else who has not gone through the trials wears silver. 2. The markings on his torso and arms are meant as protection. They are unique for each warrior, showcasing and protecting their vulnerabilities in battle. For example, Apollo has markings over his arms, which are the most vulnerable part of his body during fights (because he fights in close quarters with his knives most of the time). 3. The shape on Apollo’s forehead is the symbol of the Kage people. That is the first marking that is put on the Kage Warriors before battle and it symbolises that their devotion is to the Kage people first and foremost. Meanwhile, the gold above his brows and on his lips are purely ceremonial. Additional note: The markings on the face are always the same for the Kage, but the markings on the body vary from warrior to warrior.
