this occurred to me yesterday but i don’t actually know when miroku sees kikyo for the first time? kikyo’s resurrection takes place directly before miroku’s introduction; the second time that kikyo appears, she has warded the area around her and miroku and shippo are unable to enter; i’m not sure if miroku sees kikyo during the hold on/let go arc because kikyo tries to kill kagome and then flees after inuyasha inadvertently prevents this; after that is the mini-arc unhelpfully entitled “kikyo 3″ which i think is her showing up and talking to inuyasha; and then when inuyasha and kagome enter the Cave Of Demons that are inadvertently paving the way to giving naraku a new and healed body or whatever, i think miroku has to stay outside...?

When does Kagami realize they’re reincarnated? Do they have all their memories from infancy or remember more and more as they grow or get their memories suddenly after sickness or head trauma or something else? When do they realize they’re in the world of Inuyasha? When they get their memories or sometime later?

kagami realizes that they’re reincarnated very early on--within the first year, definitely. they aren’t really born with a “blank slate”: despite being given a new body and a new chance at life, they have the same memories and they’re still largely the same person that they were before.

but reborn in the world of inuyasha??? that takes a while more to realize

like. okay. there’s a LOT of clues that could be put together, okay? higurashi kagome is born march 12, 1982. she turns 15 in 1997. she has a younger brother named sota, a mother, and a grandpa. her grandpa owns? a shrine called the higurashi shrine. there’s a well in one of the shrine buildings. they all live in tokyo. they have a fat calico cat.

but kagami’s name is kagami, not kagome, so for a while they’re like “haha this is just really weird coincidence”

and then their grandpa mentions the shikon no tama, which as far as i’m aware is an inuyasha-specific thing, and it’s like. WELL. WELL. OKAY. OKAY. OKAY I GUESS I WAS REBORN INTO AN ANIME AFTER ALL. WHY NOT. I GUESS THIS IS JUST HOW LIFE IS.

I was actually thinking about Kagverse the other day, and I have a question. In IY, Kagome is Kikyo’s reincarnation, and I think you’ve mentioned that in your story, you’d be changing Kikyo’s character since Kagami is an SI/OC. So... does that mean that the SI/OC reincarnated into Kikyo and Kagami, and only Kagami remembers for some reason, or the soul went from Kikyo to SI/OC to Kagami, or that the SI/OC somehow changed the whole timeline when they landed in IY, or what?

honestly kagverse kikyo ended up a lot more similar to canon kikyo than i had originally thought--i was creating kagverse kikyo’s character even before canon kikyo’s character had solidified, since i was creating her as i read along, and apparently i was Really on the right track with that--but the direction that i am taking her in is different from the direction that canon kikyo takes. there’s going to be a Lot of canon divergence in regards to the choices that kagverse kikyo makes

but yeah, kagami being an si/oc is a complicating factor for the reincarnation storyline, but this post about reincarnation in inuyasha that i had found in the inuyasha tag had actually given me ideas for how to approach it--it expands on the idea that midoriko (the priestess who had created the shikon no tama) reincarnates into kikyo reincarnates into kagome and brings in the idea of karmic patterns/cycles

the question about how exactly the reincarnation thing is going to go in kagverse is one that i can’t answer yet, because a lot of the questions about it are shared by kagami and i’m very excited to explore and reveal the answers within the fic, but what i can say is that the state of kagverse pre-canon is nearly identical to canon and many things will go similarly to how they do in canon, but there are going to be more and more changes as we go along because the characters develop differently than how they do in canon

i looked again at my spreadsheet and realized. that i have written down which arcs include new moons. so now i have to Actually. Make. The Passage Of Time Realistic. am i going to have to literally finish inuyasha so that i can mark down every new moon so that i know roughly how long canon takes so that i can accommodate for that. i. please this is so much planning

telling time through the amount of monster-of-the-week events there are between new moons isn’t helpful either because there’s a new moon in arc 7 (the first new moon that kagami spends with inuyasha), a new moon in arc 12, and a new moon in arc 24

i know vaguely that kagome ends up locked out of the well for 3 years and then it opens again after she finishes high school... and i’m like... How Did The Entire Series Of Inuyasha Take Place In A Year......... How.............

there are like casual mentions of traveling for WEEKS, and i’m supposed to believe that THERE ARE ENOUGH WEEKS IN A YEAR TO COVER EVERYTHING IN INUYASHA?

this is really where the canon divergence is. me making my own fucking calendar of events within inuyasha

from my powerpoint where i had been ordering inuyasha into its specific arcs--i only made it to chapter 182 i guess? and because i didn’t write down a Summary Of Each Arc, i’m going to have to reread up to that point, because these titles--while broadly informative--jog my memory only up until a certain point. what the heck happens in “the things that linger”? i don’t remember

trying to write the first chapter for kagverse and... uh... it occurs to me that sesshomaru could very well still be alive in modern-day japan. at 900+ years, he was only physically 19; at 1400+ years, he'd be in his early twenties.

if kagami were to leave an offering and pray to sesshomaru, would he know that??? would he hear them? would he remember them?? what would he do????

Well, seeing as I'm not sure if Sesshoumaru has ever had a Friend in his life, he might be equally as confused.

honestly? True. his entourage literally consists of jaken (who vacillates between being subservient and indignant but who remains regardless of how sesshomaru treats him), a-un (who is. a mute chimera yokai thing that sesshomaru uses as a mount.), and rin (who is a Human Child Orphan who is somehow more well-socialized than sesshomaru the 900+ yr old daiyokai is). he’s either someone’s master or he’s their father. he has no idea what a friend is

the only thing i am capable of writing is, apparently, ambiguous pining, which makes writing this drabble very awkward because i’m looking at what i’ve written so far and i’m like “wait. is this normal friendship or is this implying that sesshomaru has feelings for kagami.”
