14 Months Old

Kaiden turned 14 months last week. I haven't done a proper update on my little man for a couple of months. Now Kaiden is 20.4lbs, 31 inches (78.5cm) long and his head is 48cm. Now, Kaiden can Say go, dada, dirty, uh oh, bu bu (blueberries), blue, and mama (but only when he's upset). He also tries puppy, purple. He said turkey once but we haven't heard it again. Loves flags and goes crazy every time he sees them in real life, on tv or in a book Points to his mouth when asked where his mouth is Loves reading and says "boooooowwww" (woah) and points to the pictures Loves colouring/taking crayons out of bin and putting them back in Goes downstairs on bum and sometimes backwards Loves water and won't drink anything but it (other than nursing) Seems to love the colour yellow (picks all the yellow crayons out to carry around) If he needs help he nods his head (eg if he can't reach something or want the buttons on the truck pressed) First tooth sat jan 26 Gives kisses and hugs when asked (most of the time)

Sleeping the day away

It's 3pm and Kaiden has been asleep since 11:30am. Last night he was awake every hour and was very restless. Why can't he sleep like this at night?!?! I think I should go open his door so he goes to sleep tonight. 3.5 hours and he is still passed right out. He hasn't even eaten lunch yet.

Good and Bad

Good: I feel better today!

Bad: Kaiden puked up dinner at 10:30 which required changing his sheets and pjs and all that jazz

Good: Kaiden slept from 11-5:30. I got 6.5 hours of sleep...in a row.

Bad: as I was nursing him at 5:30 in an attempt to get him back to sleep, he puked all over me and himself.

Bad: we were up for the day at 5:30. While sitting in the basement he threw up again (third pj change)

Good: he seems completely fine other than puking. Running around, laughing and talking. Weird?!

Bad: put Kaiden and the other kids in their chairs for breakfast and Kaiden puked twice in a row.

Good: hubby isn’t working today so Kaiden can spend a good chunk of the day downstairs with him

All of this between 10:30pm and 8am. Ugh. We’ve already changed Kaiden 3 times today. Looks like in doing a load of laundry while the kids nap today. I can’t stand the smell of puke. Ugh.

It’s safe to say whatever was bugging my stomach the past two days got passed on to Kaiden.

Sleep...or something like that

Sitting in the dark, in the rocking chair, while Kaiden drifts off to sleep in my arms.

Praying that when I put him into his crib he doesn’t awaken completely and start screaming as he has done lately.

Praying that Kaiden doesn’t wake up every hour or two tonight as I have to be up and ready for daycare kids tomorrow. It’s not good for anyone.

Next weekend I am going to bite the bullet and sleep train him. It’s going to suck because I will get even less sleep than I do right now. But hopefully it will help in the long run. His sleep is just getting worse. I can’t do this much longer. It’s out fault, I know, for not teaching him to fall asleep on his own earlier, and for my nursing or rocking him to sleep. But really….it just seemed right.

Any advice?

*edit* Kaiden fell asleep (8:00)and woke up instantly in his crib (8:15). 10 min later he was asleep in my arms again (8:22) and was good in his crib. At 9:15ish he was screaming And wouldn't calm down until I nursed him. Back to sleep. Again at 9:45 herd him cry out but didn't wake up and then at 9:55 he was screaming out and crying all the tears while sitting in his crib. He wouldn't calm down until I nursed him. It's now 10:05 and he's asleep in my arms. Do I give him Tylenol and hope that helps? Do I try gripe water? CIO? Help! *edit again* Kaiden woke up at 11:02 and had been inconsolable for the past 20 minutes. Things we have tried have been nursing, Tylenol, nursing, walking around, a cold cloth, teething keys, nursing (he freaked out even more), singing, iPhone app, sippy cup. Ugh tomorrow is going to suck.

Hilarious Little Man

Kaiden talks in his sleep. It's hilarious. I keep thinking he's up from his nap, check on him and he's passed out drool coming out of his mouth. When we were driving home Saturday he did the same in the car. We kept thinking he had woken up but he was out cold.

12/12/12

Thanks to all who voted. We will know on the 17th if we are in the finals. Kaiden now says dirty, dada/dad and up Kaiden understands when we say upstairs, downstairs, hat on, all done, diaper change (and various forms of it) eat, milk and more (he also on occasion does the asl signs for milk and more) Kaiden shakes his head when you say no and nods if I say "help please" if he is shrieking in frustration. Kaiden plays with my hair all the time. When I'm nursing him he reaches for it and when I'm holding him normally just after a nap when he's very snugly he plays with my pony tail. I love it. It's the sweetest. Kaiden is trying to climb everything. He succeeds most of the time. I'm very impressed, yet quite scared at the same time. Kaiden loves wearing hats. He looks good in them. Kaiden still doesn't sleep through the night.

1 Year Old

Kaiden,

Holy Moly, you are one year old. I still can't believe it!

You are 19lbs exactly.

You love blueberries and banana, and you are not a big fan of raspberries, blackberries or scrambled eggs.

You run around all day, and even hold mommy's hand when we go somewhere if you're walking. It's so super cute!

You are still in 6-12 month clothing, although we have started to put you in 12-18 month onesies and you should probably start wearing 12-18month sleepers.

You still have no teeth, but we think you are getting a few...we're hoping that's why you've been more grumpy.

You started saying Dada, and Dad, but have yet to say Mama since you know who I am.

You wave and say "bye bye" to everyone.

You have the most ticklish thighs, and your neck and ribs are also quite ticklish.

You run up and give both mama and dada kisses and hugs when we request it (Which we absolutely love!).

We don't have your one year check up/needles until Dec 14th because our doctor is closed this week.

This weekend

I'm so glad this weekend is over. I'm exhausted. Kaiden's birthday went great and he was a very spoiled little man. The house still isn't back to normal, but it's useable. Kaiden didn't want anything to do with his cake. Although we think he's teething so that could have had something to do with it. He's not eating much of anything, let alone cake lol. Apparently my phone isn't uploading everything I post so we'll see. I posted two pictures already for the December photo a day and neither showed up. But my picture of Kaiden at his birthday did. What the heck even?! 1 year update coming hopefully tonight.
