Oh! this one's easy if I go with the dvuhmi-shans :D

ok I think from when me and @lordryen were discussing cathar naming conventions a long while back, for parents naming their children tend to be honouring family members or exceptional people they know so that they emulate their qualities, so it doesn't have to be cathar that can be namesakes but that's less traditional and less done in the more orthodox circles. If the child turns out to be trans, if they want to pick a new name there's no fuss about it. a lot of the time it tends to be from historical figures (by that default I feel a lot of transfem cathar would name themselves juhani or sylvar!) but they can take letters from peoples' names too to make their own name, and that's what kihra did with her dads'!

ce'nashka is named after vette (ce'na AND THEIR NAMES ARE JOHN CE'NA B) and also I think I decided also means "beloved" in catharese??? bit hazy on that but it certainly was sappy. her middle name is taisele after theron's grandma (satele's mother) bc in my canon during fractured alliances he crash-landed on the planet taisele was on and they had a lot of talking during the two months he was stranded there. of course he didn't realise that for a whole week there before he realised oh fuck, that's his GRANDMA that's been missing 60+ years, the force has a sick sense of humour

teffhan is named after teff'ith, the twi'lek ex-slaver in the lost suns comic and Annihilation which I've liveblogged and ry's teenage sweetheart, a sunshine ratattaki orphan called hannen!* haven't decided if the name means anything in catharese bc I already fudged ce'nashkas and i need to go look up if it meets naming conventions in cathar language, but eh, since he has two people in his name it's a bit unconventional already. and then zho is his middle name after master zho, bc for all his uh, questionable, raising of Theron he was his father figure and Theron figured he'd honour him somehow.

*I haven't introduced him properly yet but unfortunately he dies very badly and ry doesn't ever let go of him and possibly is the maaaain reason ry goes bezerk getting revenge against baras :) yeah it hurts.

Thank you so much! I try and show thought processes and the way things come together because I feel like what we do as costumers can sometimes be “protected” or kept close to the vest for whatever reason. Sometimes I’m just thinking “out loud” -- I’m still learning so much, whether it be sewing or prop building, and need to step through what I’m seeing. =D
