I painted this at the end of 2018. It ended up being a milestone piece for me. My mechanical skill caught up to everything I had learned up to that point AND as much as it killed me, I was patient when it wasn’t turning out how I wanted it to. Up to that point I would end a piece early and call it done. But luckily, my wife was there to tell me it wasn’t done. I’m glad I listened. . The longer I spent on it the more I discovered about the piece. The more my thoughts and skill level got to unravel onto the canvas before me. . My emotions went from frustration to exhaustion and then to excitement. I started to learn what it felt like to push past the uncomfortable parts of painting and to discover the excitement of finding what lies in wait. . Painting is hard, but it’s really fun to learn and play and discover. =]

in my defense tho, Kairn came before all the ones ive posted up here. In my quest to think of a good starter webcomic concept ive started digging through old oc concepts for relatively straightforward plot lines and i found Him. 

This is another one of my “modern day fantasy” worlds, except unlike my other big modern fantasy world I opted to leave magic in as a mechanic accessible to the general public. 

The basic plot is that unlike the rest of the fantasy species, goblins only just recently joined the 21st century, because they were having a good time in the caves until they got pushed out by capitalism. Kairn is part of the generation of goblin kids who were two or three years old when that happened, and don’t really feel any connection to their old culture, but havent really figured out how to fit into this new one either. They kinda formed weird gangs in the city and since he’s got some minor clairvoyant abilities he gets to be the Seer because Goblin Hordes Should Always Have A Seer its the Rules. I have this bit of writing on some of that if you’re interested. Fair warning tho: i dug this off my old laptop so its a few years old-

There’s not a whole lot of like... serious action stuff. Most of what i’ve got storywise is just kinda... Kairn hanging out with his friends. Trying to Figure Himself Out. I don’t have any solid plans for it but if I do it right p much every chapter should be a self contained thing so it shouldnt be too stressful to maintain.
