Many people wouldn't know why a Hatake was in an arranged marriage to an Uchiha. Kakashi knew though. It was a secret swept under the rug by his grandmother. The scandalous unmarried conception of his father something that was covered up by both his grand mother's family and his grandfather's. It wasn't something that was easily proven but apparently the elders of Konoha thought to leverage it.

"Are you ok with this, Mikoto? Not everyone will be happy if we go though with it." He stated prioritizing her comfort first and foremost. There would be whispers. There had been when his dad was a boy and they'd be making a resurgence now.

Miko captured one of Kakashi’s hands, which she brought to her mouth. She nibbled gently on his fingers before moving on to his wrist. She made eye contact with him, as she bit harder, to leave a mark. “You know, with the mask on, for the most part, makes it really hard to bite you.” And kiss him. There was plenty of skin she can have access to, such as.. pushing up the sleeves of one arm, and she made her way up his arm, to leave bruising marks along his skin.

Kakashi blinked at first as Mikoto nibbled his fingers and moved to his wrist. "Hmm? Someone is certainly happy to see me." He replied as his gaze turned into a smile, then something more heated and intimate as she continued. "You know, Mikoto... all you needed to do was ask." He told her, lowering his mask to lock lips with hers. Her free hand moving to capture her jaw and gently tilt it up for a kiss.

“No Kakashi, you are doing it wrong.” “That’s not right.” “You are doing it wrong again.” “We staying until you get it right.” Kakashi heard these phrases, and so many like them, over and over until they were ingrained in his mind. Even now, years after Mikoto had died by her son’s hand he could hear her reprimanding him. The summer after Obito died, scarce weeks before Rin would die, he had gotten a crash course in the Sharingan from one of the highest ranking members of the Uchiha clan, Mikoto Uchiha. Most of the clan had accused him of stealing Obito’s eye, damning him for his audacity, and refusing to help him master it. Mikoto was different. She had somehow sensed how sad he was under his hard exterior, the feelings he kept buried deep where only Minato seemed to see. She took him on for three months, driving him through a long, strenuous training regiment until she was satisfied with his performance. Her soft voice and small smiles encouraging him in ways he didn’t know he needed. Kakashi hadn’t even realized how he felt about her until her engagement was announced. He didn’t know anything that didn’t involve a death could hurt as badly as loosing his father and Obito. He had been taught love was a wonderful thing that brought happiness to a person. Apparently he had been taught wrong.
