Hi! I wuv your studyblr! I just wanted to ask what types of pens and highlighters do you recommend? I want to start taking better notes for my next year of highschool.

i answered a similar question a while back about what kinds of supplies i use to decorate my bullet journal, but that includes pens + other stationery i use, so i’ll make a separate list of my favourite pens + highlighters here, excluding the ones mentioned in the other ask! (even though i still love them lots and always will aaa)
[ p.s. here is the aforementioned ask - all the supplies mentioned there are absolutely beautiful and i legitimately often sit down and think about them and cry over how wonderful they are im…complete stationery trash…….. ]
uniball eye designer [v. smooth flow - can sometimes be a lil problematic while writing bc it’s pretty thick (0.7mm) so depending on the kind of paper u use it may/may not bleed through the paper a bit]
muji 6-in-1 colour pen [personally i don’t like ball-point pens that much but i will always make an exception for muji simply because of how smooth their ball pens are + the colours!!! are so lovely ughgh]
muji 0.38 gel ink pens [i mentioned the 0.5 ones in the other ask because those are the only ones i’ve used, but i’ve heard the 0.38 ones are even better (if it’s possible…honestly the 0.5 ones are heaven to me omg) since they’re thinner and thus have a smoother flow and literally don’t bleed through any paper at all which is #goals for pens]
luxor highlighters + the pack i use [i think this is a product sold only in india, but i’m not totally sure! i’m sorry if it doesn’t work out for you!! personally this is the option i always go for because it’s so conveniently available in all stationery stores here and it’s just this great combination of super cheap + high quality so that’s all good! it’s pretty much the same as staedtler textsurfers, just much cheaper and the textsurfers come in more colours. however if it isn’t available outside india, the other options will be a lot more useful. forgive me for being so clueless about the availability of highlighters!]
yummy yummy scented hi-liters[i, like. completely get if that name sounds creepy or weird to you but hear me out. these are literally incredibly good at their job and on top of that they smell delicious. legit. they smell so good honestly and they’re perfect in every way, if i had to criticize them in anyway i’d just say that they’re problematic af bc i get too busy smelling them to focus on work]
staedtler textsurfer highlighters[pretty similar to the luxor highlighters! both are some of my faves, they’re really great because they don’t bleed through the paper at all and very smooth. i definitely wish these guys were cheaper but c’est la vie, i guess! some of the best things in life are overpriced. the cost of living is skyrocketing. we are all doomed]
zebra mildliners [pretty sure everyone’s heard of these guys, they’re like the ultimate rulers of the studyblr community lmao. it’s funny though because i’ve never used them! but considering how popular and well-liked they are i would recommend giving them a try!! lbr tho ever since sareena said they weren’t as great as she’d expected them to be, i’ve lost interest in them tbh. but don’t let that stop u, friend. they still get A+ ratings and come in real pretty colours]
copic markers[i have never used these before and i swear to god it would be an absolute honour, a privilege to use these. i would genuinely kill for a pack of these and i wish i was kidding about that. honestly, i wish they weren’t so expensive because! just! look at them!!! they’re absolutely beautiful and i am such trash]

not all of the links i’ve added have really cheap products BUT i’m sure u can get cheaper versions of most of the products i’ve mentioned here! u can look them up on google or amazon or if u wish to, u can message me whenever u want if u need help looking for cheaper options. i don’t even own most expensive supplies and i totally get shopping on a budget so i’m here for u. don’t let tumblr’s obsession with fancy aesthetic stationery bring u down!
