I actually have quite a bit of T.J. Snapper lore that isn't just me pondering in my head lol. It's fairly normal lore but it's lore nonetheless.

I think TJ got into photography because of his mom :) The Megamix Rhythm Item implies he has a mom and she gets a copy of the magazine with his photos and makes a scrapbook of them and that makes me happy :) So I think she's super into photography and collage-ing, and as such she has a lot of cameras. So one day TJ finds some of them and is interested in how they all work, all the different types, the instant cameras vs film cameras vs digital cameras, and so she passes on the hobby to him.

He is absolutely 1000% autistic coded. I think he was the kind of kid to collect toy cars, especially ones where they have faces (like the Cars from the movie franchise, the Tonka Chuck and Friends... does anyone remember those? Those were awesome), and when his girlfriend suggests he take pictures of cars, he's like woah! Another way to engage with special interests! I think his specific flavor of car special interest is in the design of cars, how they're designed for different functions or different vibes, how trends in design change over the years, that kind of stuff.

(Also, and I could do a whole post about her, but my headcanon name for TJ's girlfriend is Rhonda, from the Beach Boys song "Help Me, Rhonda".)

Got any headcanon for wandering samurai I heard you wanted some rhythm heaven characters

There are many stories told of the Wandering Samurai, and while historical sources show he was a real person, many details of his life are unclear, made even less clear when blended with exaggerations and legends. Some say he had a lord who died during a war, others say he was not officially a samurai but was given the title because of his devotion to bushido, still others say he either served some sort of deity, the concept of justice, or all living things. Stories of his heroic deeds pop up from the era of feudalism in Rhythm Nation, all the way up to even the modern day, but the latter are often discredited.

Then he kind of just wandered into a ten person polycule and he's sort of in it but also sort of not but he's not complaining also he's aroace that's important too

By real world standards, A Boy/The A Boy/Romeo (in like French or Italian he gets an actual name) is probably the most normal character in the Rhythm Nation. He has two moms in a happy and loving relationship, his grades are in the mid B's to low A's, he does a handful of after school activities, he gets into a little bit of mischief that is normal and healthy for a kid his age, he has a normally awkward but happy relationship with His Crush/The His Crush/Juliet, he likes science and literature and dislikes math and gym, he talks to weasels but in the fake version of Earth that isn't even that strange or concerning...

This all means that for a Fermataverse Rhythm Heaven character, he is a very unique, strange, bizarre, weird boy. No drama? No mysteries to be solving? No commentary on gentrification or assimilation or other big topics??? wtf

anything on paprika? or the gatekeeper trio in general?

In my head, the Gatekeeper Trio has a political/somewhat cultural or religious role in Rhythm Nation. Like they protect sacred rhythm sites (the towers). So it's both a religious thing as in "this place has a bounty of life force" and a political thing as in "our country/world is literally dependent on rhythm". It's a lifelong job that requires three people, and coincidentally the currently ones are all brothers (or brothers and sister, Saltwater is a trans woman in my headcanon. But she's chill with being called a brother). It's also a job that requires engaging with the community and encouraging music and rhythm. They are very serious about the role, but kind of in a silly way. The only problem is that they kind of (only kind of) suck at coordination.

For Paprika specifically: he is very devoted to rhythm. That is literally the only thing he cares about in a person. If you are good at rhythm, it doesn't matter who you are or where you come from. If you aren't good at rhythm... well he'll be sad, but you can always improve. He believes that all creatures are capable of learning good rhythm. But you will not be allowed to come into his office.
