The event is called “Youth Street Jam” and it was planned and organized by Uganda Youth and Adolescents Health Forum (UYAHF). UYAHF is a youth led health rights and livelihood advocacy and action group that was established by a group of young people that are passionate in addressing health and livelihood needs of fellow youths, women and children.
The objectives of the street jam were to;
· Bring sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR) services and information closer to young people from the slums
· Provide young people in slums with information on the available SRHR services and where to always find and seek these services
· Create public awareness and lobby public support on the need to end teenage pregnancy and sexual exploitation among young girls in slums.F
Free health services were offered such as HCT (HIV counseling and testing), cervical and breast cancer screening and safe male circumcision.
The event brought together more than 800 people including local and international (UNFPA, UNAIDS) NGOs, adolescents, general public and MARPs (most at risk population).
