The event is called “Youth Street Jam” and it was planned and organized by Uganda Youth and Adolescents Health Forum (UYAHF). UYAHF is a youth led health rights and livelihood advocacy and action group that was established by a group of young people that are passionate in addressing health and livelihood needs of fellow youths, women and children.

 The objectives of the street jam were to;

·     Bring sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR) services and information closer to young people from the slums 

·  Provide young people in slums with information on the available SRHR services and where to always find and seek these services

·   Create public awareness and lobby public support on the need to end teenage pregnancy and sexual exploitation among young girls in slums.F

Free health services were offered such as HCT (HIV counseling and testing), cervical and breast cancer screening and safe male circumcision.

The event brought together more than 800 people including local and international (UNFPA, UNAIDS) NGOs, adolescents, general public and MARPs (most at risk population).

Buckingham University had been accrediting courses at Victoria University in Kampala providing a critical education resource to the students around the country. The british institution recently stopped their partnership and collaboration with the Victoria University citing the unacceptable limitations presented by Uganda’s actions against homosexuality, including the proposed anti-gay legislation and the restrictions on Freedom of Speech.

The Victoria University had only opened it's doors last year offering a british standard of education. This recent failure of the accreditation system may leave hundreds of students without an accredited degree and no option recoup tuition fees. Currently the Victoria University is one of the most expensive university in the country which may have been a worthy investment had the degree transfered to universities and employers in outside countries.

There are mixed feelings about Uganda's civil rights conditions as well as the school's education equality. Like wise there are concerns about the imposition of foreign cultures on Ugandan schools. Both sides feel they are taking the moral high ground.
