KamuNami July Summer event, Day 3: Late Night Movies

I was thinking about an AU where Chiaki is fixed enough to be able to “live” somewhat peacefully in the Neo World Program, but is really susceptible to getting bugs. World Destroyer/AI Kamukura has learned how to recognize when they happen, and fix them quickly enough to get rid of surface level bugs (but he’s gotta be touching her to fix the bugs, and for a while since there are still internal ones that need fixing and those are just harder to detect). They’ve gotten pretty used to him gently holding her arm/holding her hand. Until they find a way to strengthen Chiaki’s defenses, the two of them will always have to be together (which is just fine for both, they work rather well together and have eventually gotten pretty close).

Anyways, this just happened in the movie theater. They were able to gain access to the internet and put on movies, which Chiaki picks kind of at random sometimes. This one was a romance flick that was really quite cheesy and boring, so she fell asleep rather quickly (plus she still retains her normal sleep cycle and it’s harder to keep awake when she isn’t playing games). AI Kamukura doesn’t really care much for the movie (he downloaded it and thus has “seen” it anyways) so he decides to do some scanning of the program in the mean time. And then that’s when she gets a bug, but it turns out fine, as always.

Kamunami summer week july: video games as a july hobby they’re making a 2D surfing game together about themselves surfing, it’s their personal thing and they’re almost done

Kamunami Summer Event 2019 will begin on June 16th! 

The first week of the event begins on June 16th and ends on June 22nd. 

The second week of the event begins on July 14th and ends on July 20th.

The third and final week starts on August 11th and ends on August 17th.

Although there will only be one week out of each month for the event, the event will last until the end of August (You have until the end of August 31, 2019, 11:59 CST to submit your work).

Reblogs are appreciated, even if you’re not participating. 

Rules

As always, all forms of Kamunami are allowed (AI and Human).

This is not a Hinanami Event. If you do reference/use Hinanami, please tag it. However, keep in mind that the main focus needs to be Izuru and Chiaki. If I only see Hajime and Chiaki, I won’t count your work.

NSFW is allowed, although it might not show up on Tumblr. Make sure to tag it, and include a warning sign (ex. use a “keep reading” above the work so others won’t see it unless they click on it). 

If you are making edits/aesthetics, you need to get permission from the artist. Sites like zerochan, konachan, Pinterest, eshuushuu or other image boards don’t count. Use sites like Pexels or Pixabay, which are free to use, and post the attribution link (or credit the artist’s name). If I see artwork that doesn’t belong to you, I will not count it. If it’s something from Tumblr, mention the blog you got it from (ex. Sprite edits).

Likewise, if there’s anything in your work that might trigger someone (ex. Blood, violence, suicide, etc.), please tag it and mention it.  

Use the tag #kamunamisummer2019 so I can find your work and share it. You can also @ the blog. If your post doesn’t show up at first, try again a few times. 

This isn’t a competition. Respect all creations.

You do not have to participate for all of the days. Just the ones you want.

If there are any prompts/themes that you don’t like, you can do the Free Day, the last day of the event week. You are welcome to create anything you like. It does not have to be summer themed.

Make sure to follow the prompts/themes for the assigned date. If you create something that isn’t related to the date assigned, I won’t count it.

KamuNami June Summer Event: Day 2

I have been swamped in just essay after essay, so I haven’t had time to dedicate to this ship, but I swear I love KamuNami the same as always 💖I’m writing this all in one go, so there’s likely going to be some grammar issues (that I’ll go back and fix later maybe), but if I had to miss another KamuNami event, I was going to tear myself apart XD A little late, but I tried my best!

Prompt: Camping

This story is a part of a series I was trying to write called May the Hope Within Guide You Well. It was a series inspired completely by the KamuNami prompts from 2018. I’d only managed to finish the first story, Only in the Beginning, for the Masquerade prompt.

Unfortunately, I got writer’s block on the second story, lol. There are a lot of things that happen between this story and the first one, but isn’t strictly necessary to read it to follow what’s been going on. Hopefully I am able to finish the series ^^;

Chiaki stared blankly at the fire in front of her, listening to the cracks as it ate at the wooden kindling. The crickets were chirping loudly, but having been in the forest for days now, she hardly even noticed it anymore.

While the forest they were in (much less thick then the one she knew) would have been very pleasant, she was unable to enjoy the environment.

She was safe for now, which was more than she could say for many of her friends.

She tightened her grip on the blanket that was wrapped around her shoulders as she sighed deeply.

The past few weeks was like a blur. It seemed like only yesterday that she had been sitting down in a clearing like this one, carefully writing letters to Izuru about creating new spells and theorizing novel ways to use others. And it seemed so sudden that the kingdom had fallen- the monarchs were murdered, the heir to the throne, alive, but hidden from the world by black magic, and the citizens driven to insanity and despair by the one who had conquered their land. She was able to escape, but what of her family? Her neighbors? Her friends?

She wished she could go back to those days where her only worry was if Izuru was doing fine and if he could possibly ever return her feelings for him.

As her mind went into the same circles it had for weeks, she suddenly heard footsteps approaching and tensed, quickly jumping up to face the direction she heard it from. She relaxed immediately when she saw it was just Izuru, who unceremoniously dumped the game he hunted on the floor. He nodded at her before getting down and making quick work of the game with the knife he pulled out from inside his jacket.

“Welcome back, Izuru,” she greeted softly, moving to help him pluck the pheasant as he skinned the beaver. He simply glanced at her in acknowledgement. They worked in silence until the work was done, preparing some of the meat for a stew with ingredients Chiaki and Usami had found earlier, and setting the rest to be preserved for later. Once the stew was set to cook, Chiaki broke the silence.

“Izuru, what’s going to happen next?” she asked, looking at Izuru, who was sitting on log by the campfire opposite of her, staring blankly at the fire. He didn’t acknowledge her in any way.

“Izuru... please. We can’t just stay here forever,” Chiaki pleaded, yet he still refused to respond.

After a while of nothing except the crackling of the fire, she lowered her eyes to the ground, drawing her knees to her chest and wrapping her arms around them.

It remained quiet for a while, though eventually she could hear Izuru get up and work on the stew. Her surroundings grew darker and darker, until the sun finally set, but she stayed in her position.

It was only until he sat to her right did she turn to see what he was doing. He had placed a bowl of the stew in front of her, and didn’t look at her, simply eating his own soup. She gloomily took the bowl and began eating as well- there would be no use in wasting the food, after all.

She’d almost gotten through the bowl when Izuru spoke up.

“Junko’s power is too strong right now,” he said in almost a murmur. “This forest exists in a pocket dimension, away from the madness she has inflicted on the kingdom. Until her power lessens, going after her would be fruitless.”

Izuru then suddenly took her right hand in both of his, making her startled at his sudden touch, but she soon relaxed easily. Looking into his eyes, she saw more emotion than she had ever seen in them before.

“I want my brother back, and we’re the only ones who stand a chance at opposing Junko and reinstating him back into the thrown. We have to stay here until the right time.” He squeezed her hand gently, and moved to let go, but Chiaki held on firmly, placing her left hand over his.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered. “You’re hurting, too... of course you are. Your father is dead, your brother is cursed, and you’ve been accused for both of the crimes committed on them.” She briefly looked down at their intertwined hands and the continued.

“I thought that the person that I’ve been writing to over the last year and the man in front of me were different.” She lifted their hands to rest over her heart. “But, you are the same. I learned how to read what you wrote in your letter, but in person... I just don’t how to read you yet, I think.”

Izuru’s head bowed, his long hair shielding his face from view, however a single tear fell slowly down his face. Chiaki let go of his hands and reached for the sides of his face with both hands to turn him towards her. She could see the pain and conflict and anger flash in his eyes, and then him trying to shut the door on those emotions to torment him internally once more.

Chiaki leaned her forehead to his and let her tears fall freely.

“It’s okay,” she reassured softly. “You don’t have to hold the pain alone. We’ll save our friends and family, together.”

She soon felt his tears run down and onto her fingers, but she refused to move.

The two of them had been through a lot and have lost so much, but at least for now they can have each other in this moment, and she wanted to make sure he knew that, too.

kamunami summer july: late night movies+bikes i was fixing laptop issues and had to skip 2 days, I felt bad about it so I combined two prompts :) Izuru encouraged Chiaki to do exercise, they watch movies together to keep Chiaki entertained and keep her mind off the tiredness

Kamunami summer july prompt 1: caught in the rain/stuck indoors they went on a game center date during a bright day, yet when they were about to leave it was raining heavily went with world destroyer Izuru for a change of pace is this in the virtual world? is this an au? who knows
