The Kamunami Summer Event is over! If there were any that didn’t make it in time, you have until August 31st at 11:59 pm CST if you want me to reblog your work to this blog. After that date has passed, I will no longer be checking the tag as I will no longer be updating the blog after that.
Thank you to those who participated for this last event. I’m not going to make this post super long because I already expressed my thanks, but in short, thank you for all your support. I was really glad to see some new works for this event. I hope you all continue to work at your passions and grow further.
Summary: When an early-than-usual fireworks display wakes them up too early, there are two choices Chiaki has: either check it out, or go back to sleep with Izuru. It’s obviously not the first one.
This one was a little hard because I have to really consider their personalities. They don’t have a lot of interactions in canon, so most of this is my own interpretation and based off headcanons. Again, this is my own interpretation. If you have something completely different, by all means, fill out one yourself. Do you honey. I’m gonna put my explanations below since it was hard trying to fill in the boxes with text. I’m skipping the ones with X’s because that should be easy to see.
1. For the more popular and charismatic one, I put Izuru as popular and Chiaki as charismatic. Izuru would probably fall under both just because he’s Ultimate Everything. I felt that Chiaki wouldn’t fall under any of these, but then again, she managed to gather her classmates together as seen in the DR3 anime. So while she doesn’t care about being in the forefront, she does have a sort of charm about her that makes her charismatic. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been chosen as the class rep.
2. Has more experience with relationships: I know neither one of these two would have any experience, but for giggles, I put: “Do games count?” for Chiaki’s because that’s probably her only experience with dating and romance.

3. How It Happens: I feel like this one is fine. Chiaki wouldn’t fall in love with Izuru right away. I mean, have you see the way he talks to girls? He’s a bit of a jerk, and knows he’s better than everyone. Obviously, from the first meeting, she’s not going to be all over him like a certain despair queen. She’s going to have to get to know him.
I think Izuru’s placement is fine. He’s not going to be head over heels for Chiaki like people think. He could care less about her. But through her determination of wanting to befriend him, he starts to develop something. He isn’t sure what that something is at first, but eventually he comes to like her.
4. Handling Conflict: Yes, these two are going to have conflict. Both of their views are different. Izuru is all about logic and being rational, while Chiaki is the type that goes with her gut. Her feelings. Again, she is naive. She’s not Ms. Perfect like everyone thinks she is. She may not be a bitch like some characters, but you don’t have to be bitchy just to have flaws. You can be nice and have flaws too.
This one gave me some trouble cause again, there are hardly any interactions between the two other than angst material. Izuru is not the type of person who gets upset, so I put him as laid back on the chart. I don’t see him being very aggressive. His tone, or his eyes might indicate when he’s upset, but he’s not physical about it. I feel like Chiaki might unintentionally start arguments, or get frustrated when Izuru doesn’t understand her feelings on certain things. I think that’s when the conflicts would break out. This probably happens a lot, but that’s normal. As humans, we don’t agree on many things. We have different opinions, different tastes.
As for how long it takes to apologize... I think it depends on the situation. I think Chiaki might be quicker due to not wanting any bad feelings between the two of them. Izuru might take some time, but he might also want to apologize because he knows that sometimes his words can be a bit harsh. This really depends on the argument, who instated it, and where their relationship stands. How upset they are with each other.
5. Relationship Attitude: I know these two would be very dedicated to each other. Don’t ask me why, I just know. Izuru doesn’t strike me as the cheating type. You could come onto him and he wouldn't be affected. Chiaki doesn’t strike me as the cheating type either. For example, we see from the anime that she doesn’t forget about Hajime, even after he’s gone. She still waits for him. Chiaki is a team player. As for affection, I see these two as being more private. Even then, Izuru isn’t overly affectionate. It depends on the situation. Chiaki is a little more affectionate (hand holding, hugging), but I see these two as also showing affection without touching each other, or using words all the time. It takes a while before they get to that point, but once Chiaki knows Izuru well enough, she realizes that for him, just being near her is all that he needs.
6. Showing Affection: This kind of ties in with the one above, so I won’t go into too much detail. As much as I want Izuru to just grab Chiaki in his arms, pick up her, I know that’s not him. I headcanon Izuru as not being too comfortable with touching as a result of his experiments, so Chiaki is the one that helps him get used to physical contact. That, and he probably overthinks too much, to the point where he doesn’t take action. That said, Chiaki is the one initiating most of the physical contact. She is kind of wary at first because she assumes it will make him uncomfortable, but Izuru will tell her if it bothers him or not.
As for stuff like verbal affection, same thing applies. Chiaki is the one who uses verbal affection the most. Izuru rarely talks as it is, but he does say words of affection if he feels it is necessary, like when Chiaki is having doubts, or worried.
7. Dealing with Jealously: I don’t see these two as the jealous types. I like to imagine Izuru being jealous of Nagito, or getting a bit irritated when Chiaki gets along better with other men, but he usually keeps it to himself, or tries to understand why he is feeling this way. As for Chiaki, I feel like she would be lonely/sad when she feels like she can’t really relate to Izuru. Someone like Junko understands what it’s like to be bored of everything, but Chiaki can’t share in those feelings because she doesn’t have that ability/talent. I feel like while Chiaki would be honest with Izuru in everything, she internalizes her emotions sometimes, and ends up being a bit distant. Izuru will pick up on this, but because he’s different, he has to be careful in what he says when he tries to comfort/reassure her.
8. Attachment: We don’t know much of Chiaki’s past, but I feel that once she gets close to someone, she gets attached. We see this with Hajime. We know she was a loner as she mentioned in the anime. She went to class, but because she was always in her own world, she never really interacted with anyone. She felt she couldn’t really make friends with her talent.
Izuru doesn’t really need attachment because he’s used to being alone. He doesn’t really care for building bonds with other people. Does that mean he can’t get attached? No, but he wouldn’t be overly attached. He enjoys being in Chiaki’s presence, but he can also handle being away from her.
As for how protective they are of each other, perhaps in the beginning Chiaki is very overprotective of Izuru because she knows he has been through a lot. She knows he can handle himself, but she won’t stand if someone talks about him and spreads false rumors. Izuru might be a little overprotective because Chiaki is the type to go into situations without really thinking, but as time passes, they take it down a notch. Do they have to rush in all the time? No. Do they got each other’s back no matter what? Absolutely. I love an unbreakable team.
This was something I wanted to do for a while. Previously, it was for a longer project, but due to personal issues and lack of motivation/burnout, I put it on hold for now.
Like the events in NDRV3, this isn’t going to be very long, however, I do hope you enjoy it. I don’t have any artistic talents, so this the most I can do for this pairing, besides writing fanfics. I hope that those who haven’t really explored this pairing will at least take a look at it. Who knows? You might come to like this pairing.
If you have a problem with this pairing, I highly suggest you do not play this game. Hajime is not in this game, so if you’re looking for Hinanami, this ain’t it. Just want to say this now before someone starts to complain.

I had a kamunami dream today: I was drawing them, Chiaki wore something resembling a red kimono, there were pink flowers all around them and I think Izuru wore his suit, they had their eyes closed and their mouths were extremely close but not actually kissing, it was a very aesthetic picture and it had some lore behind it but I sadly don't remember it
The way you described it reminded me of this official art with Tomoyo and Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura. The only difference is that Tomoyo’s eyes are open.
One thing that people don’t realize as much, is that Izuru and Chiaki look good next to each other. That probably doesn’t mean a whole lot to some. That’s another reason why I like them together. If there were more art of them together, people would see how much they compliment each other. Especially Izuru. He already has that androgynous vibe. If you let him wear his hair up, give him a nice long, elegant kimono, and some makeup, he would look like divinity. Untouchable. I’m surprised people don’t draw him like that very often, because Izuru would definitely pull it off. He already has that intimidating presence, just give him the clothes to showcase that. Also, Izuru would just look good in traditional Japanese clothes.
Anyway, your dream sounds interesting! Think the drawing would look really nice too!
Summary: While getting caught up in between a literal food war, two students who don’t want to be part of the conflict do their best to use the available resources to protect themselves.
Chiaki: *walks into room* Okay Kamukura-kun, I'm ready.
Izuru: *turns to look at Chiaki* ...
Chiaki: *is wearing a full body armor of pillows and other soft items*
Izuru: ...May I ask why you are wearing such a ridiculous outfit?
Chiaki: It's not an outfit! It's armor!
Izuru: ...
Chiaki: I made this to help you get used to physical contact. You don't like being touched, right? I made sure to cover up everything, even my hands. *shows him her oven mitts*
Izuru: ...
Chiaki: It's a little warm wearing all of this, but I'm sure I'll get used to-
Izuru: Take it off.
Chiaki: Huh?
Izuru: ...
Chiaki: ...Are you sure?
Izuru: *gives slight nod*
Chiaki: Okay, just give me a moment. *leaves room*

Chiaki: *comes back without her body armor of pillows*
Izuru: Do you feel better?
Chiaki: Well, yeah, but I didn't mind wearing it.
Izuru: There is no need to suffer on my account.
Chiaki: Hmm... I guess you're right. *laughs* I probably looked really silly, huh?
Izuru: ...
Chiaki: But it's okay. I still want to help you Kamukura-kun. You probably could care less about being able to hold hands and hugging someone, but those are things I want to do with you.
Izuru: ...
Chiaki: *is embarrassed* Sorry, that probably sounds really selfish. I don't want to force you to do anything you don't want.
Izuru: *gently grabs Chiaki's shoulders*
Chiaki: !
Izuru: ...
Chiaki: *notices his arms are trembling* You don't have to force yourself...
Izuru: ...
Chiaki: Kamukura-kun... *is serious* I'll try not to move, so...
Izuru: ...
Chiaki: *averts gaze* You can move your hands as you like.

Izuru: *hesitantly wraps his arms around her to embrace her*

Chiaki: ...It doesn't hurt.

Chiaki: ...Is it okay if I hold you too?

Chiaki: Ah, if you're not comfortable-

Chiaki: *smiles* Okay.
Izuru: ...
Chiaki: *wraps her arms around him*
Izuru: ...
Chiaki: Just tell me when you want me to let go.
Izuru: *looks down to Chiaki* ... *looks elsewhere as holds her slightly tighter*
Chiaki: Ah!
Izuru: ...
Chiaki: ... *blushes* I...I'm not going to lose! *holds him tighter*
(The two of them had to eventually stop because their arms and legs were getting tired.)
