21. jealous kiss  a.k.a this is my first time trying to write them pls go easy on me

Violet hues fluttered open and flickered over to the man beside her, so calm and serene in the midst of meditation, and a small pout formed on Lenalee’s lips. Kanda was in complete control, all silent strength and lurking power, while appearing to all the world as if he may as well have been a statue. Yet no matter how hard she tried, she herself could never achieve the same level of concentration. 

Unfair.

With a soft, inaudible sigh, the woman forced herself to close her eyes once more. There were days when she joined him on which she felt she was doing a decent job, but today was not among them. Too many things stirred up a tempest of tangled thoughts where the clear skies of her mind should be, and she kept catching herself shifting, fidgeting, the discomfort in her chest never quite settling.“Stop worrying. I can hear your thoughts from over here.” Of course, her unrest would not pass Kanda by – the swordsman was far more perceptive than most people realized. “I’m trying,” she returned, an almost petulant edge to her voice due to her frustration. Her patience was fraying at the seams. “You’re so much better at this than I am.”A sigh resounded in the silence of the room. Lenalee didn’t so much hear him move as she sensed the shift in the atmosphere, as if a perfect balance had been subtly tilted in the air around them. Before long, Kanda’s presence radiated warmly from where he sat down behind her, and Lenalee’s eyes opened in confusion when large hands take hold of her narrow waist. With the tiniest yelp, the woman found herself being pulled onto Kanda’s lap, her posture gently being readjusted so her cross-legged position remained, only this time with a broad chest against her back. 

Confused and slightly flustered, a soft inquiry of, “Kanda…?” was left hanging in the air, but he merely held her securely in place, calm and steady where she was not. A soft, warm pressure to the crown of her head made almond eyes widen in a short moment of startled surprise – and then they softened, their warmth and affection mirrored in the tender smile pulling on petite lips. “Just relax.”“Mmmm.” Thank you.
