Amusement Park with Kangmin
Warnings: mentions of food, high places/rollercoaster rides (when you see a dash, that indicates where high places/rollercoaster rides are mentioned. You can skip ahead to the next dash so you wonât have to read anything that scares you!)
Pairing:Â Boyfriend!Kangmin x reader
Summary: Kangmin hates high places so the two of you go to an amusement park to help him face his fears
It was a spring day, the kind where the sun is out, the sky is blue, but itâs still chilly enough to make you want to snuggle into a sweater. The good but kind of bad weather perfectly described Kangminâs and your emotions - excitement and fear.Â
As you walked towards the gates of the huge park, you wondered why Kangmin wasnât beside you anymore. When you turned around, you found him frozen in place, his mouth wide open as he stared at the tallest ride in the park. Laughing to yourself, you ran up to him and tightly held his hand.
âWe donât have to ride anything that big, okay?â you told him, snapping him out of his daze. He gave you a worried smile as the two of you continued towards the front gates.
Once you got in, Kangmin was oddly quiet and fidgeting with your hand as he held it in his.
âWhich ride shall we go on first?!â you asked excitedly, jumping up.
âCan we go on a Merry-Go-Round?â he asked, giving you a small smile.
You pouted. âCome onnn, I know I said we should start small, but not that small.â
You scanned the map that you had been given at the entrance, looking for a ride that wasnât extremely scary, but not something very small either. When you found it, you turned the map to Kangmin and pointed at it with your finger.
âHow about this one? It isnât so bad!â you said. Kangmin let out a shaky âahhhhâ making you chuckle.
You squeezed his hand and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
âYou can do it Kangmin! Iâll be with you, right next to you for every second of it.â
Kangmin looked down with a smile, feeling a tingling on his cheek - the ghost of your lips.
As you walked towards the ride which was not far from the entrance, you tried to keep a conversation with Kangmin so he wouldnât feel too scared. He still gave very quiet responses and kept spacing out, but as you waited in the line for the ride, you gave him a tight back hug and continuously whispered âyou can do it!â in his ear. It made him laugh, but you could tell he was still scared.
-
You were at the front of the line and would be the next people to get on. Kangmin stretched out his neck to take a look at the ride. Suddenly, he gasped and squeezed your hand.
âThis ride has loops? It goes upside down and you never told me?â he exclaimed. You bit your lip, hoping he wouldnât get too angry. You thought since he didnât ask, it wouldnât hurt to not tell him. But clearly, it was worrying him.
âDonât worry!â you told him, trying to cheer him up. âWeâll pass through it really quickly.â
But Kangmin still sighed, drawing his eyebrows together worriedly.
When you got on the ride, you made sure to sit right in the middle and not in the front or back - those spots were for the elite rollercoaster lovers. Kangmin was sitting to your right, and his hands were shaking as he tried to close the belt on the ride.
When the guard came down against your chest, Kangmin hurriedly reached for your hand.
â[y/n], I canât do this!â he said, loudly.
âYes you can! Weâre doing this together!â you reassured him. When the ride started to move, you heard Kangmin let out a yelp. You were holding onto his hand tightly, squeezing it and rubbing it to help him calm down.
Slowly, the ride began to make its way up the incline and Kangmin was whining.
âThis is gonna be fun! This is gonna be fun!â you yelled, but you couldnât lie, you were also feeling a little nervous.
Kangmin started to scream and squeeze your hand as the rollercoaster rushed downwards. You also screamed, allowing the adrenaline and butterflies that were coursing through you to escape.Â
It ended so quickly since it was a short ride with only two drops and two loops, but Kangmin was still breathless by the time it ended.
-
âHow was it?â you asked him.
âTerrible but fun,â he spluttered, making you laugh.
When the two of you got off, you gave Kangmin a tight hug. You were proud of him for facing his fears, even if the rollercoaster wasnât the tallest one.
Walking back out to the park with your hand swinging in his, Kangmin was beaming from ear to ear.
âI did it. I canât believe I actually did it!â he said excitedly.
âYes you did,â you said, ruffling his soft hair. âShould we go on the Merry-Go-Round now?â
Kangmin crossed his arms and stood up straight. âNo. That ride is too small for me. I think we need to go on that one,â he said, pointing to the tallest ride on his right.
âAre you sure about that?â you asked, making him laugh and shake his head.
âDefinitely not. Letâs go to the Merry-Go-Rouuuund!â Kangmin said, suddenly starting to run and dragging you with him.
You were happy to see him more relaxed and cheerful.
The Merry-Go-Round was beautiful and a lot bigger than any youâd ever seen before. It was pink with white and gold patterns drawn all over it. The horses were of the same three colours too.
âI want to go on this one!â Kangmin said, pointing to the tallest horse. You went to sit on the one next to his, but he stopped you.
âI want you to sit with meee,â he whined. He explained how he was strong now that he had went on a scary ride, so he should sit in front and you should sit behind him. He was acting like such a kid, but you didnât mind it because of how cute he was.
So you sat behind him and wrapped your arms around his stomach. You rested your head on his back and looked to the right, where you could see the rest of the park. As you watched all the people that were walking around, some tired and some excited, you felt Kangminâs hand on top of yours. He was holding the pole with one hand and holding your hand, which was on his stomach, with his other hand.
âIsnât it dangerous to only hold the horse with one hand?â you asked him jokingly.
âNo. Iâm strong, so I can do this,â he said, laughing at how obnoxious he sounded.
When the ride finally started to move, you and Kangmin both shrieked and laughed. The two of you pointed out rides that you wanted to go on next and admired the green trees that were scattered around the park.
With your chin resting now on his shoulder, you stared at Kangminâs soft cheek. It was right next to your face, so you only realized that you had kissed it when Kangminâs face turned red and he looked down.
He always looked down when he was shy, and you found it cute. Since the two of you had just started dating, he was still shy whenever you kissed him. It made you feel warm and youâd always feel butterflies in your stomach.
When the Merry-Go-Round came to a stop, the two of you went on a couple more rides before deciding to eat something. When you finally sat down with your food, Kangmin told you how glad he was that he came here with you.
âIâm still scared of heights, but it was kind of fun and maybe one day I wonât be scared of heights anymore?â he said, in-between mouthfuls. You noticed that he had sauce smudged on his cheek, so you grabbed a napkin to wipe it off. Somehow, even that made the poor boy shy, and he looked down as you wiped it off.
âKangmin,â you said, and he replied with a hum. âDo you feel nervous around me?â you asked him cautiously, not wanting to upset him.
He looked up with his big eyes, making you melt right there in your seat.
âNo... No itâs just... Youâre so beautiful and every time you get close to me, my heart races and I canât help it...â he mumbled.
âYouâre so cute, Kangmin,â you told him, continuing to eat. âAnd I like you a lot.â
Your words caused the boy to blush further.Â
âWhy are you doing this to me!â he said suddenly, covering his mouth when he realized how loud he was.
After going on a few more rides, it was getting dark, so the two of you decided to go on one more ride - a Ferris Wheel.
-
Kangmin was feeling a bit nervous again, but he told you that he would just look at you throughout the ride so he wouldnât feel too scared.
The Ferris Wheel wasnât anything huge like the London Eye. It was in the kidsâ area, but it still made Kangmin feel a little scared, so you held his hand tightly as you got on. The small space only had room for four people to squeeze in at maximum, so you sat across from Kangmin.
As the ride went up for the first time, you admired the view from above. All of the lights were on and everything looked so pretty. Kangmin was nervously tapping his feet in front of you, so you leaned forward in your seat and held his hands.
âKangmin, youâre okay, right?â you asked him.
âIâm alright, I just kind of want to get off,â he croaked.
âI know itâs scary, but hold my hand and just admire the view for a second,â you said, trying to encourage him. He squeezed your hand and scanned the view before returning to his original position and nervously tapping his feet again.
You suddenly got an idea. As you reached the top of the Ferris Wheel for the second time, you moved closer to the nervous boy in front of you. He avoided your gaze, staring into the distance behind you, but when you cupped the sides of his face, he was forced to look at you.
-
âWha-â he started, but you cut him off by pressing your lips to his for the very first time. It caught Kangmin off-guard, but he closed his eyes. His lips were cold from the chilly, night air, but somehow it felt refreshing. When you pulled away, his fingers shakily touched his lips. Youâd never seen him this red before, and it made you blush a little.
When you got off the ride and headed towards the gates to leave, you asked Kangmin what he thought of the Ferris Wheel.
âIt was scary but...â he trailed off, remembering your first kiss that happened only a few minutes ago.
You held his hand and tightly squeezed it as you reached the gates, leaving the amusement park. Hopefully, you would be able to come back again soon.
