kankuro and sakura are the team's physiotherapist and fitness trainer, respectively.

i had already decided their roles as physio&trainer but what i didn't intend for was them being an older married couple. it felt right to keep it that way so fuck it we (base)ball

kankuro has the disposition of a disappointed but concerned father, and the whole team is scared of sakura. she is like a drill sergeant in the gym and watches everyone's form and workouts like a hawk.

naruto has adopted them as his parents. sakura babies sasuke to knock him down a peg or two when he's being especially haughty. the team finds it funny but they have to hide their snickering or else sakura will eat them alive.

kankuro is responsible for recovery, massages, acupuncturing, etc. sakura, their workouts and food regimen, keeping careful track of their macros and such (she makes absolutely disgusting food but it's high in nutrition (the team dread her meal plans)).

they have been trainers for professional sports teams for a couple of decades and are highly respected in their positions.

Here to share a little something from the next chapter (6th).

There were a few other small souvenirs she gave away until the only person left with nothing was Shikamaru. The man was watching her dispassionately, but she could sense his tension — or at least imagine it — even though his hands remained relaxed and he managed to keep an almost asleep expression. Tenten was aware there was something going on since her visit to Temari's home. No need for further explanation. Baki’s and Kankuro’s looks, Temari’s reaction… it had been enough. She was not going to comment on it, of course. It was none of her business. “Shikamaru?” Tenten said. He drew his eyebrows at her. “What?” “Kankuro asked me to give you this.” She slid a white envelope on the table. “He said you have discussed something, and he sends the information you’ve asked for.” Tenten held his gaze, hoping he would understand. He was a very smart guy, after all.  A spark of curiosity flashed in his eyes. “Oh… I expected it by the mail, but this would do too. Thank you, Tenten.” She smiled knowingly. “No worries.” “I thought Temari was coming next week?” Ino frowned. “Couldn’t he have sent the information via her instead of making Tenten deal with your stuff?” Shikamaru leisurely put the envelope in his vest before turning to his childhood friend and teammate. “I have no control over Kankuro’s decisions, Ino. I don’t know why he did this instead of that. If you want to know so badly, ask him when he comes over next time.” “Yeah, sure. Because he comes over as often as Temari,” Ino replied, sarcasm cutting. ***

Tenten raised her eyebrows and looked for any information on Sakura’s much more honest face. What she perceived was that her pink-haired friend wasn’t really thrilled at the idea herself.  Returning her gaze to Ino, she sighed. “Why?” “Now…” Ino sat on the small, uncomfortable chair beside the table. “Why don’t you close the door and tell me how you wanna play this?” Tenten looked at her hand, the still-squeezed handle fully forgotten. She clicked the door shut. Ino smiled, all charm and beauty. “I could start convincing you from afar until we reach a point when we drag you out against your will. Or you could cooperate using the information I’m about to give you.” “Which is?” “I have a friend that asked me to arrange a meeting with you.” Tenten sighed in annoyance. “We already talked about that—” “I have a male friend that has lost his mind over you and wants me to introduce him,” she emphasised further. "He has been bugging me for a while now."

“Interesting,” he said, but his tone hinted otherwise. He sounded disappointed.  Yona noticed her frown; she had to give him credit for it. A quick blush passed over his cheeks. “Well, maybe I should give fiction a try. What is your favourite book?” Tenten, already irritated, faked a smile and said the first book that came to mind. “The Dessert.” Once the words were said aloud, she stirred for a fraction of a second. That wasn’t exactly her best-loved book — she didn’t have one. Yet it ended up on the tip of her tongue. “What’s it about?” Yona asked and didn’t miss the chance to lean closer to her.
