My toxic fanfiction trait is taking real characters and making them my own almost to the point they could be OCs not just over canon divergence because I try so hard to remain canon compliant, but because I tend to do massive time-lapses that exhibit character development in ways that make me question why I like to torture them so much

Some Grief and Bad Decisions Commentary

Most of it is basically allegory for the experiences I had when dealing with a rough adolescence and young adulthood. Some key aspects:

First and foremost Kanji's prostitution ties back to me using Tinder in college. I was constantly taken advantage of but always pushed away when i felt like i wanted at least some care and support and was manipulated for not having a support system and used (hence why he repeats that someone always wants something out of me). It made me insecure and put walls up. My SO said he noticed when we first got together that I had many walls up. The SA scenes also relate to my own experiences.

Naoto's interference ties back to my Mom. She and I didn't get along for a long time and it was a very tense household. I moved to a campus apartment to get away from it but she took all my student loan refunds for bills and had financially abused me. After I moved out we truly started to get along. But the overtly critical and constant nagging was in reference to that.

Kanji's Mom having cancer was basically straightforward. My Dad had cancer when i was a teenager and our worlds were basically put on hold for it. Time stopped for all of us in 2010, 2011. When he died, my Mom struggled financially to the point we had faced foreclosure at least three times. My Mom kept selling off the things my Dad left for her. She was also not financially responsible hence the above.

The cathartic consent scene was basically an allegory for my experience with my SO. He came into the relationship inexperienced but he healed me so much. He was always putting me first and always had my wellbeing in mind. Even to this day he has taken such great care of me through my worst. Months after we started dating I had a tumor taken out and he took care of me that entire time. That's how amazing he is and God fucking dammit I can't wait to marry him.

The whole SIU plot is my way of saying "fuck you" to my last company because they took 2 years 10 months of my life and made it absolutely miserable, then laid me off just as I was approaching 3 years. I******** can fucking suck it. They deserved to lose billions btw.

When my Mom died, I tried therapy again after quite a few times. The last time I tried it, I told my therapist that I just feel really numb and I'm self aware that I've been emotionless to it all. She dropped me shortly after because she self like she could not help me. So just writing out what therapy couldn’t do.
