I finally finished this one. Took me multiple sketches and attempting to lineart and realizing I hated everything I was doing. Drawing is hard.
You know I have a theory why venonat evolves into venomoth
Ok so venonat besides being based on fleas, mites etc may be based on woolly bears (larval tiger moths). Many are fluffy and also poisonous, they have stinging hairs and some will curl up into a ball when threatened thus explaining venonat’s shape and fur.
