OOC: What attracted you to Barry? Did you consider anyone else instead of him? What's your history with him been like? Have you ever had any surprising threads with him? Do you have anything you'd like to do with him? (You can answer this for your other pair too, if you like :) )
I had to pause to really think about these awesome questions–it’s been quite the journey with good old Barry here at WE, his roleplaying adventure almost coming up on five years now. Looking back, I can’t even believe that I’ve been writing him for this long…time flies when you’re having fun, I guess. :)
When I first joined WE in 2012, I started off small, RPing an old man Gambler OC because I wasn’t really confident in my writing skills yet. As my comfort level grew, I wanted to roleplay a positive, carefree figure. I played Crasher Wake, then Marlon, and then…I decided that I was ready to try a protagonist. I really wanted someone who could relay my ridiculous sense of humor–Crasher and Marlon were both goofy, but I wanted to go further beyond–and I thought about picking up a goofy Gold, perhaps Nate or even an over-the-top Hugh. Then, I looked at Sinnoh’s character slots, thought of this picture, and knew that the answer was staring me right in the face. Barry arrived, and I haven’t looked back since!

what first interested you in Calem? has he ever been a difficult muse for you? what's your most memorable roleplay experience with him? do you have anything you've ever wanted to do with him?
In order:I don’t really recall. I think it involved a discussion in the group chat about why I was reluctant to take on protagonists leading to … was it Ash? Kai? Sparrow? I don’t recall, precisely, offering some encouragement. So I went looking around, dug up some stuff on Calem’s Pokemon Special version, and figured I could work with that.Calem’s been difficult for months, because unlike most of my muses, who get written as a sort of personification of a mood, I wrote him as a reflection of my state of mind at the time. He’s been tricky to write ever since things changed in my personal life. Most memorable experience? Hmmmmm. Anything involving Liah, to be honest. Writing with Dan is a goddamn treat.I really don’t have an answer because I’m one of those freaky people who doesn’t really want anything.
where does his journal name come from?
Okay, so, I’m kind of ashamed to admit, but his entire journal theme is a shout-out to the Dark Angels chapter of space marines in Warhammer 40k. The Lion was the title of their leader, Lion El’Johnson. The Fallen refers to the branch of them that rebelled against the Lion in the middle of the big upheaval in the backstory. Cipher is a particular agent, probably of the Fallen, but exactly who he is and what he’s up to is unknown.

“Yeah, uh, you have fun with this–I’m out,” Green grumbled, attempting to put the ‘G’ in Green by strolling away from the scene like a total cool guy. However, his noble attempt was foiled by one blond boy–face slightly smudged and hair slightly smoking–who put a commanding finger right into the younger Oak’s chest. What a brave young man!
“No! You! Are! Helping! Me! With! This!” Barry screeched, sharply lowering Green’s Defense as he punctuated every word with an attempt to dislocate the traveler’s arm from his shoulder. Behind the pair was roughly one eighth of Professor Rowan’s laboratory, beautifully smoldering in the Sinnoh twilight. To his credit, Barry had tried to spend the last few minutes cramming whatever he could find into a pile of salvaged boxes. And not to his credit, Green didn’t really seem to care–even as a fancy-looking electrical device sputtered and died behind them. Barry wailed and threw it into a box.
It had all started innocently enough.
And here's Red's account!
