Shadowbringers Chapter: Onward

*CONTAINS SPOILERS*

Kaoru walks through the Portal. She looks around and G'raha Tia is there to greet her. He gives a slight bow. "Welcome back, Kaoru." She gives him a smile.

"Thank you, G'raha." She responds. But he takes a moment to examine her, his findings a bit concerning. Her rose pink hair is now a faded pastel pink, and her eyes were dulled, her Limbar Rings all but gone from their usuall spots around her irises, and her fair skin has paled a bit. She cocks an eyebrow. "Is aught amiss?"

He clears his throat, nervously hiding his concerned look. "Hm? No. Nothing at all." He gestures towards the door. "The others are at the Inn as we speak. Your fashionably late, I'm afraid. Come." The two of them make for the Inn, exiting the Crystal Tower and setting off through the courtyard. "How are you fairing on the Source?" G'raha Tia asks. "How much time has passed in Eorzea?"

Kaoru thinks it over. "It's hard to calculate just when the worlds times will fluctuate more than it is now, but I think, a few months have passed." He chokes a bit, stopping abruptly. Kaoru stops now too, looking back at him in concern. "Hm?"

G'raha Tia puts his Crystal hand to his chin, thinking. "But barely a month has passed here since you departed... Is time starting to continue it's fluctuating? And if so, am I running out of time seeking a solution to the Scions' plight?"

Kaoru chuckles once, receiving a raised eyebrow from the Mi'quote. "You worry too much, friend. Naught has happened yet for you to be overly concerned with." She smiles, but the smile seems fake in his eyes. "Now let us hurry to the Inn."

"Welcome back!" Everyone cheers as Kaoru walks through the doorway. The Scions, with the exception of Y'Shtola, are all there to greet her. Along with them are Hope, Tius, and Ryne. Feo Ul also floats in the back with a few Fae-folk, the Chais, and even Kai-Shirr. Kaoru gives a wide eyed look.

"Gods, you didn't all have to come..." Kaoru says. A few of them laugh. Alphinaud is the first to respond.

"Well, it seemed only right we invited those who eagerly awaited news of the progress made here in Norvrandt and of the Source." He says.

Alisaie steps forward. "Please, tell us. How do things fair back home?" Kaoru smiles and nods.

"Things are at a standstill back in Eorzea." Kaoru replies, a few sighs of relief from the Twins and the other two Warriors of Light following. "I've kept busy training with Master Matoya for the better part of my time away. But I do keep my ear to the ground. And for the most part, things are as we left them."

Hope smiles at her. "That's good to hear." Kaoru smiles back, but Tius notes how off it looks, cocking an eyebrow. "I had feared the Empire would have made a move."

Kaoru nods. "Tataru and Krile sends their regards and wish us all to remain hale and whole." She looks to the twins. "Krile hopes you both are staying out of trouble." Alphinaud and Alisaie both grimace, exchanging nervous looks. Kaoru winked at them, putting a finger to her lips. "What she doesn't know won't kill her." They both smile at her in relief. "Now, what of the rest of you?"

Alisaie looks to Alphinaud. She gestures, and he takes a step forward. He clears his throat. "Ahem, well, I've spent my time trying to get Eulmore back in it's feet." He gestures to the Chais. Dulia-Chai waves. "The Chais have graciously lent their support."

Dulia-Chai waves Alphinaud away, blushing. "Oh, we're only doing what we can to help our dearest Alphinaud and his lovely 'assistant'." She replied. Hope blushed and clears her throat. Alphinaud blushes as well. "They've been spending a generous amount of time at Eulmore, those two." Dulia-Chai sings. She looks at Chai-Nuzz. "Have you ever seen a more adorable couple before, dear?"

Alphinaud looks at Hope, then to Kaoru. When she shows no reaction, Alphinaud looks away. "Mistress Chai, please..."

Kaoru's eyes drift from Alphinaud to Tius. She looks away then and sighs. Alisaie notices and clears her throat. "Well, I should deliver my bit of news now." Alisaie replies. All eyes turn to her. She smiles. "In light of current events, for lack of a better word, the patients have taken well to the treatments given at The Inn at Journey's Head. With the Light no longer overpowering, the ill have even begun to recover from their overdrawl of Light."

Tius smiled. "That's great to hear, Alisaie." He gives a fist pump. "And with the sin eaters being hunted in full force between you, Hope, Thancred, and myself, they'll be extinct soon enough!" Kaoru cocks an eyebrow.

"So you've all been very busy here on the First." She says. Everyone turns to look at her. She gives a smile. "I should apologize for being otherwise engaged. And the lack of action happening on the Source." Kaoru looks at Hope and Tius. "Especially to you two."

They both give a small smile. Urianger steps forward. "Other engagements of the First and Source can wait. Though I daresay, thy has given us much and more relief than thy can surmise." Urianger smiles. "Tis a celebration, is it not? Let us then, rejoice at the progress made in such a short time." Everyone cheers and raises drinks. Kaoru smiles a small smile and watches everyone begin to mingle. Urianger strides over to her. "I would have words with thee. Might I have a moment of thy time, m'lady?" She looks around, catching Tius's eyes. She nods.

"Let us take this elsewhere. Mayhap the hallway?" Kaoru asks. "Less prying ears and wandering eyes." She turns away and leaves the room with Urianger in tow. Tius watches this happen.

Hope walks over. "What was that about?"

Tius shakes his head. "I haven't got the slightest clue." Tius looks at her. "I can't really be suspicious, considering the secrets Urianger and Thancred expect me to keep." He sighs. "I'd be a hypocrite." Hope nods sadly. "What about you lovebirds, you and Alphinaud?" Hope blushes instantly. "What have you two been up to?"

Hope clears her throat, looking away. "We've spent quite a bit of time together. Especially in Eulmore." Tius crosses his arms, hanging on every word. "I would usually help Alphinaud if there was something I could do. But most days, I'm following reports of sin eaters from the locals still running rapid." Hope smiles, clearly happy. She crosses her arms. "How about you? All the 'secret' stuff in which I know nothing about?" Hope asks with a hint of sarcasm.

Tius had kept her up to date despite Thancred and Urianger swearing him to secrecy. In case her mastery of healing was needed, Tius wanted her to be ready if he happened to call upon her. "We're at a stand still with Eden right now. But it seems to be working. There is actual running water in the area below Eden, and even some earth beginning to scuffle it's way up." He smiles. "I believe it'll really work." His smile fades and he glances at the door that Kaoru and Urianger had exited through. "What do you suppose she's really been up to?" Tius could sense Kaoru hadn't been entirely truthful. And that there was more than met the eye with her new tired look. Whatever it was, the curiosity was killing Tius. He wanted to know. Even if it meant intruding upon something in which he wasn't involved.
