I know it’s late but Happy Birthday Kaoruko!

Opinions may vary on her but she’s definitely one of my favorite side characters in JR. Hell, I even think she’s make a great main character in her own story. Her relationship between Mizuki is kinda of cute and I hope it gets developed more.

I love how headstrong she is on her own beliefs. I feel like rarely do we get good female characters in Japanese media and it’s a real relief that Nakamura is able to write such interesting female roles in her mainly male-dominated stories. Going back to that one side act revolving around her and Mizuki, he noted that ever since she was a small child she’s been that way driving the people around her away. Mizuki also admitted that he knew that she wasn’t as strong as she’s put up and in the end needed someone who’d back her up. In the kind of world that she lives in, it’s pretty incredible to still be that strong. It really wasn’t just Akihiko who was hurt but it seems that every child in the Usami family seems to become isolated in a way. Anyway, it just seems that Nakamura really knows how to write great female leads and I’m really grateful for that.
