The Kaossilator Pro+ Synthesizer In Depth
The Korg Kaoss Pad 3 get much more attention than its younger brother, the Kaossilator. It’s fair to say that the Kaoss Pad deserves its own spot, for being one of the most versatile effect units out there. The only real competition it has is from Pioneers EFX-500 and EFX-1000, and both of those cost much more than the KP3, while being able to do far less. The ability to control an effect, like echo or delay, opens the door for more creativity within a mix. There is also the aspect where it can be controlled in a non-linear fashion, meaning that the end result is more improvisational that it is deliberate. Aside from the traditional effects that come with most effect units on mixers, the KP3 also has the ability to create music and sample from live music as well. [embed width="656"]http://youtu.be/3Gw0dccPw-4[/embed] This is where the Kaossilator comes into play. It takes the sampling and music making aspects of the KP3 and expands upon it to become almost a mini synthesizer, rather than effect unit. At NAMM 2013, the KP3 and Kaossilator+ editions were introduced with new added sound banks and features. The bigger picture here, is that Korg has not given up on these units and expects to see them around for some time. http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2013/02/03/the-kaossilator-pro-synthesizer-in-depth/
