Leaving AU, Kara helping Alex when she finds out Alex is expecting
"Have my feet always looked so fat?" Alex asked, studying her feet that were resting on the coffee table.
Kara snorted and shook her head. "No, they're just swollen. Try compression socks. They might help."
Alex hummed and took the cup from Kara's hand, just as Kara sat down beside her. "I miss wine," she said, taking a sip.
"I know, but you'll have to make do without it. It's not good for the baby."
Alex pouted but nodded in agreement. "You'll come with me to the appointment later, right?"
"I thought Kelly was going."
"Something came up at work, and she couldn't change it," Alex explained. "Please, Kara? It's my first appointment, and I'm nervous.
"There's nothing to nervous about, Alex. You'll do fine." Alex gave her sister her best puppy eyes, Kara sighed. "Fine, I'll go. I'm sure Winn wouldn't mind spending more time with Alura."
"Have you told her yet? About being a cousin?"
"Not yet. But I'm sure she'll be excited. Hungry?" Kara asked, getting up from the couch."
"I could go for some popcorn and caramel sauce." Kara scrunched up her nose at the combination. "Don't judge, I didn't when it came to your cravings."
"That's because all I craved were powered donuts," Kara reminded Alex but set out to make Alex's snack. "I never said congratulations, did I?"
"No, you were to busy being excited about becoming an aunt."
"Well you can't blame me," Kara said turning to Alex with a pout. "It's not every day my sister gets to tell me she's pregnant."
"I mean I guess," Alex teased, smiling. "You'll help me right? I know I know I can count on Kelly, but sometimes she'll be busy that she can't drop everything to help."
"Alex, you helped me during my pregnancy. Of course I'll help you with whatever you need."
"Thanks Kara."
"It's what sisters are for."
