One of our favorite fine press books in our special collections is this beauty from 1987 published by the Yolly Bolly Press, The Inland Whale, written by Theodora Kroeber (who is also known around here as Ursula K. LeGuin’s mother), a retelling of California Indian stories. All copies have gorgeous hand-colored woodblock prints by Karin Wickstrom, but our copy also has a bonus: the original prospectus and a color swatch, along with sample papers and cloth used in the book’s printing and binding...
