not entirely sure my post will be read anyways but just in case.
so i’ve been at placement at a psych research organisation in the past year. being like one of the only asians has been an interesting experience in an environment that’s predominantly white (no duh...but let me intro my story, thank you)
one of my jobs is to sort of make social media posts for the study (the fact that the higher ups want us to make it “less corporate” is another whole can of worms i’m not going to talk about) and, being east asian, and having grown up in east asia, did some reading up on eating disorders in this region to make a post (based on my personal interest, really). (the interesting thing is that there are very little confirmed cases of EDs in east asia but relatively high rates of symptoms amongst the population) one of the other placement students comments and goes “is taiwan considered a part of china” and i had to hold my tongue and reply politely and attempt to explain the situation but oh well. what can you do
