                   “Aiya... I thought I could fool even you~” Another smile for him, letting her hand extend to one of her butterflies in her garden so it could land on her fingers, swinging her feet while she sat on the retaining wall. Even those who dealt with the dead could feel the weight of sadness and desperation lingering from spirits with things left unsaid, things that they never said...

            it was tiring being the bridge between both worlds but still she found herself smiling regardless of it all.

                     “...I know, but I can still do it one way or another, I don’t need to regret people seeing me sad, I just want them to smile and if they find me annoying then that’s on them! At least I help people go past their sadness with a simple smile or prank... only when it’s warranted, I know others grieve on their own time...” Hu tao looked at him as her butterfly flew away- “Don’t be telling me that too- I can see the same in yours.”

             “And that’s alright, just don’t worry about me, okay~? Worry about yourself first before tackling my own feelings, I promise it won’t hurt me in the end.”

though it may surprise some, venti does indeed posses the ability to think before he speaks ... as dusty and unused as the ability may be, he brings it out in special occasions like this. 

the archer suppresses his initial expression well, not a glimpse of what he holds within. eyes softening, grin always present - he manages to tuck away the part of him that feels akin to death at his partner’s words.

please, his heart sings. don’t tell me that you believe my love to hold a price tag ... 

devotion never had been something to bring joy. it leaves his stomach sick and a gapping hole in his heart. worship was something he’d gotten used to, he thought little of it. to hear it from someone so close, however ... it was something else entirely. it felt trapping and only left him confused. could devotion and freedom ever live side by side without the risk of temptation or corruption ? those who dared to find out were nothing short of song worthy in his eyes.

             “That doesn’t make you any less of a person, Xiao~” Hu tao found herself trying to balance on the railing of the Wangshu inn, making sure to lean in properly so she wouldn’t fall. Looking at him, with a smile as she hopped down and stretched- it did her good to get away from the harbor, just go visit little ming and visit him.

      “I don’t think you’re a monster, so good luck trying to make me see different!”

              Hu tao twirled on her heels and collapsed on her behind on the ground with a giggle, crossing her legs and looking up at him with a smile, “I just think you’re fun to be around, Xiao, even if you are Mr. Grumpy. I like you- if, that’s okay~”
