Kenya: the big winner in the Cardiff IAAF Half Marathon
Kamworor (59:10) and Karoki (59:36) have finally defeated Mo Farah (59:59).
From very soon, the Kenyans imposed a tough pace, working as a team in order to give the UK Olympic Champion no chance of even dreaming with the victory.
The two Kenyans detached completely from the rest of the group in the final stages of the race, before Kamworor successfully defended his World Half Marathon title.
At some point, Mo was clearly being left behind by everyone but he gathered the strength to come back from sixth place (at 15 km) and still win the bronze medal. Despite this, he still managed to set a new European Record at the distance of 15 km, by registering a split time of 42:03.
On the women's side, the front group was composed of 4 Kenyans and 2 Ethiopians.
Peres Jepchirchir (1:07:31) leaded the Kenyan women to a clean sweep of the podium.
Both team classifications were topped by Kenya, the big winners of the event.
