K.A. SHORTS #3 (2/2)
What goes around... (part 2)
The Young Knight's intake of breath caused the small fly to be drawn into his nose. It passed through his flared nostril and was pulled down the dark, damp tube of his sinuses. There, it became entangled with one of his nose hairs, and came to rest against what turned out to be a particularly sensitive area.
As it's already stated, Tobias had an incredibly sensitive nose. And if it was so sensitive that it could sneeze if tickled from the outside, you could only imagine what would happen if it was tickled from the inside... A rather potent tickle in fact was creeping into the boy’s nose.
It was only a short time before his nose, so delicate and easily disturbed by the slightest trace of pollen, began to react. A tear seeped out of his eye.
Tobias wanted to scream but he knew he couldn't. Covering his nose with both hands, started slowly backing away from Tifania's tent. If he had to sneeze he had to do it as far as possible from where he was. (He would not let Tifania discover him for any reason!).
“Eh… Hihh… Hh-heh… Tih “
"Curse!" He thought "Right now, right here!"
With both hands still on his face, Tobias reached what was supposed to be his tent and jumped inside. The boy gave a sigh of relief. He had managed to get away without Tifania noticing anything.
But now came the difficult part. He needed to sneeze really badly,
Somehow he had to expel the fly in his nose. The poor creature was wedged in his nose hair and did not know that every effort it made to get out of there increased the tickle inside Tobias's nose. Each time he inhaled, the hair would waver and the fly would rub irritatingly against the inside of the nose.
He tried inhaling deeply through his mouth and then blowing the air out of his nose, to clear up his nasal passages, but that only made it worse. The fly, frightened at the sudden movement around her, began to fidget more .The tickle grew, and the young knight understood in that moment that the explosion was about to come.
“Please let it be a quiet one, please let it be a quiet one.”
“AAH-TSHUUSHHH!!!”
The sneeze exploded in the tight space like a bomb, the ground vibrated with the sonic force it unleashed.
Fortunately, only a sneeze was needed to get the fly out of his nose. The furious itching which had so vexed his nose finally abated. It seemed almost absurd that a single sneeze was enough to get rid of all that tickle.
That enormous explosion had at last expelled the irritant which was the cause of his trouble but his head was spinning after the unleashed force. It took some time to figure out what had just happened. He looked around trying to understand the severity of the damage.
The tent was destroyed. Or to be more precise: he destroyed the tent.
In the enclosed space of the tent, Tobias sneeze detonated like a small nuclear bomb. He had convulsed in the sleeping bag, snapping forwards so that his head collided with the soft canvass of the tent and ripped it.
He sniffed desperately, his ears still ringing from the explosion. At least he was sure now that the fly was no longer in his nose.
The little fly, in fact, ejected from its cave at the speed of light, felt very lucky to have survived that explosion and decided that she would never follow that smell again.
“Great” he thought “Now I don’t have a place to sleep tonight” He damned his curiosity. If he hadn't had that stupid idea of spying on Tifania all this wouldn't have happened. And now he would be sleeping in his tent. He felt like a total idiot.
"TOBIAAAS !!" The worried voice of his partner was immediately heard. "What just happened? Are you all right?"
Oh crap. And now how was he supposed to explain this situation to Tifania?
He had to find a way to explain the situation before she arrived. Any justification as to why he was still awake. And why he sneezed like that. Maybe he could even fix the tent if-
“Tobias? Are you alright?” She asked concerned “What just happened?”
Too late. She was already there.
“Ehm well you see...” He blushed madly.
He was not mistaken: that evening she had put on a new pajamas. But he could never have guessed how it looked on her. Tobias's eyes almost flew from their sockets when he saw that the shirt fit like a glove except for… well of course… her chest. Where she had buttoned it up as far as it would allow, and the top button still looked like it was about to pop at any moment.
“Did your... sneeze... destroy.... the tent?”
He sighed “Pretty much”
she laughed. This was the most embarassing situation he ever found himself into.
“Can I make a suggestion?”
“Sure”
Without a blush, a chuckle, or any other loss of composure, the girl asked “Why don’t you stay in my tent tonight?”
“W-W-W-WHAT??”
“Well I don't think you'll be able to sleep in your tent in those conditions” Tifania explained “And you certainly don't want to get a cold by standing here in the open all night? “
"Y-yeah.. b-but that would m-mean ... b-being ... very close ..."
“Ah don't worry about" She said with a smile “ I don't take up much space "
Well I doubt about that. He thought looking at her pajama.
“Come on, I cannot allow you to feel bad the next few days, considering the important missions we have, it would be a problem if you are not at your best .. better to prevent that by any means possible, right?”
Tobias blushed harder. “W-well yes... You raise a good point. I-it’s just… you know... b-being so close…”
“It wouldn’t hurt to try. And besides It would be just for this night: tomorrow morning as soon as we pass into a city you will get yourself a new tent" She held out her hand to him.
Now,since leaving the academy on this combined mission with Tifania, the possibility of a such a situation occurring never crossed Tobias mind. Tifania one of the most beautiful girls he knows, (if not THE most beautiful) wanted to spend a night with him in the same tent!
"Huh!" He thought "and to think that everyone in the academy always made fun of me ... If only they knew... "
If the other boys at the academy knew what was happening now, they would have killed him if he refused.
"Alright then" He clung to Tifania's hand and stood up "L-let’s do it..."
“Follow me then! And make sure to make yourself comfortable”
His heart started beating harder. Was that a mischievous smile he saw on her face? No, impossible. Well this whole situation seemed impossible. Almost like a dream come true. Almost as if all of this weren't real ...
Yeah like a dream come true. Like a d-dre... a drea-ah...
At one point, a strong itch took hold of Tobias's nose
Tobias nodded as his mouth began to tremble and he began a series of involuntary gasps: “ Hah… H-hahh… Hehhh… Hhhih”
“Are you alright, Tobias?”
“I-I don't k-know....Heh... my nose... is acting.... weird.... Hehhh ... it... H-hah looks like... it's going to-to...
---
“TSHOOOOOOW!!!”
“Good morning sleepy head!”
Suddenly it wasn't night anymore.
It was sunny, the air wasn’t cold and Tobias could hear the singing of the birds on the trees. What the hell just happened?
“Huh? Tifania?” Tobias looked for his partner.
She was finishing dismantling her tent and putting things back in her backpack.
Something was wrong. Not only was she not wearing her pajamas (in fact she was wearing her normal clothes), but she had completely changed places, from in front of him to in front of her tent.
“Tifania, what just happened? When did you get dressed?”
“Well, good morning to you as well,” She laughed “That big sneeze of yours seems to have confused your mind, you just woke up and it's 10 in the morning"
“WAIT, WHAT?!” Tobias gasped “But if just a second ago you were talking in front of me and it was night!
“Huh? Tobias what are you talking about?” She really had no idea of what he meant “ It seems that the sneeze that woke you up really messed you up”
“But I remember!” Tobias blushed “I had just... er... sneezed on my tend and... you came out to help me!“
“Ehm... I think it's difficult that it could have happened since this is the first time I've seen you since last night"
“Wait really?”
“Are you okay Tobias?” She asked worried “This night I heard you sneeze a few times, you're not catching cold, are you?”
The boy looked around more confused than ever. He couldn't have imagined everything. But he was still inside in his tent wrapped up like a sleeping bag. It almost felt like he fell asleep there ...
“No impossible”
And then the sudden realization came to Tobias:
Tobias didn’t really try to peek into Tifania's tent and didn’t destroyed his tent with a sneeze, in fact there was the possibilty that no flies had entered his nose. (So does that mean he sneezed while he was sleeping?)
And most importantly Tiffania had never suggested that they sleep together in her tent last night.
It was all a dream.
The reality was that he, while trying to set up his tent, felt tired and fell asleep in the still unmade tent. And after that, perhaps because he had really heard Tiffania speak of drafts, those dreams came to him. Sure, he felt relieved to know that he hadn't really tried to peek into his partner's tent -deep down he knew it was wrong- but he couldn't help but feel ashamed. Well if he had dreamed of doing it, a part of him really wanted to do it.
But that meant ...
Tifania never really asked him ...
He wasn't going to ...
No, it can't be ... I was about to ...no, but what am I thinking ... it was never happening...
“So it was all a dream!” He cried “NOOOOOOOOO....”
What goes around comes around
(Not far from our two knights' camp, an annoyed fly flew. She had just spent the worst night of her life. Not only had she been sucked into the nose of a sleeping human, but she had also been shot at full speed into the sky . it had been the most humiliating thing in her short life! "I'll never get close to humans again!" she thought and flew as far as possible from there.)
