Re: Kashra fic If it isn’t a spoiler, how do you think Kash and Zahra first got to openly discussing their pasts (and patrons and gods and all that) with each other? Do you think it just came spilling out in whatever the context of Zahra saving Kash’s life was or was it something they sat down and discussed together? Combination of both? Also, jumping ahead a bit, any idle speculation as to what the Cyndrials and the Slayer’s Take got up to while rebuilding Vasselheim after cr1?
It's not a spoiler! It's kind of a core part of the story, their bonding.
At least as I have it figured out for my fic, Zahra saves Kash's life on a job, they get back from the job, get paid and... Kash is sticking at her side. He owes her his life, he is determined to pay that back, she's kind of stuck with him.
So, just as Zahra did kind of naturally with Vex, she aims to Bond with Kash. Starts gently asking about him, teasing out little facts and details - minor ones, mostly, like favoured foods or hobbies - and makes it clear that if they're going to be working together they should be friendly! They should bond.
So it doesn't come directly from Zahra saving his life or something they deliberately sat down to discuss but rather something Zahra kind of... purposefully set about teasing out of him and sharing with him, in part by letting it come up naturally in conversation, in part by sharing related experiences, in part by observing something and asking about it. Gently coaxing him to open up and share things about himself, sometimes by sharing things about herself.
As for the rebuilding of Vasselheim - it does come up in a little snip of what I've written, but indirectly; I've not yet thought about specifics for it beyond that the Take is likely involved in the rebuilding and repair (someone's got to keep monsters off the lumbermen harvesting wood from the Vesper Timberlands, someone's got to supplement the city wall guards, etc.).
