"Kass?" Liam's amused voice shakes her from her daze and she meets his gaze questioningly. There's a hint of badly concealed smugness in his expression, in the way one corner of his lips quirks up as she frowns at him in confusion. "You were staring." Busted. Blood rushes to her cheeks as she looks away, but she can still feel his stare on her. She was definitely staring, specifically at his hands. He’s been hard at work all morning, preparing spell bags that might come in handy in their next trip. Kassandra immediately offered to help, but she hadn’t imagined how distracting it would be to work so closely.

There’s nothing intrinsically fascinating about grinding herbs and drawing enchantments. It’s interesting, for sure, and Kass has always found Li’s talent admirable. His hands move with practised skill, eyes fixed on the task at hand even though he could clearly do it in his sleep. Not a rare sight– she’s helped him a hundred times before.

But it’s harder not to be distracted now that she knows his touch by heart. She can’t stop thinking about how those same hands were on her just the night before, how they brought her skin to life and made her sigh his name… The thoughts send another wave of heat to her face, and she bites down her lip in embarrassment.

Liam lets out a soft laugh, trying to muffle his delight at the reaction. “No need to be shy. I didn’t say you should stop.”

The obvious teasing in his voice causes Kass to bite back a pained groan. He’s enjoying this, that much is obvious.

“In fact,” he continues, and the way his voice drops lower almost has her shivering, “You’re welcome to inspect my hands even more closely if you’d like.”

His tone is nothing short of languid, but the boldness is so expected that it helps calming her. She finally meets his gaze.

“As much as I appreciate the offer, we still have work to do.” She manages to mutter the words in a nonchalant tone, even though her smile wobbles a bit under the scrutiny of his heavy-lidded gaze.

“You sure?” Li’s smirk grows as he pulls her close. “I could give you another demonstration. You seemed to enjoy the last one…”

Kass looks down at where he’s holding her. His grip on her hips is firm enough but still gentle– he always makes sure to give her the chance to pull away.

She doesn’t.

Instead, she takes one of his hands and raises it to her lips. Any trace of amusement drains from Li’s face as he stares at her, something new in his expression (something akin to surprised adoration).

This time, she doesn’t shy away despite the heat spreading across her face, and her warm dark eyes never leave his as she presses a kiss to his knuckles. Slowly, deliberately. And lovingly, oh-so-lovingly.

Neither of them speaks for a long moment. Then Kass flashes him a small smile.

“How was that, for an inspection?”

He blinks. Then he burst out laughing, and she basks in the sight of him, head tilted back and eyes shining. Happy, beautiful, and hers. She presses herself closer against his chest and he leans in to kiss her properly.

“I love you.”

She smiles against his lips, drawing in his breath. “I love you, too, Li.”

22. falling asleep on the other’s shoulder

words: 500+ a/n:  was nervous because i’ve never written for them but i’m just throwing this out there and running jkkjdkjd here have some pining idiots ✨😔

Kass was always an affectionate child. Words didn’t come easy to her most of the time, they got stuck in her throat before she could express herself and it was much easier to stay quiet. So she’d resolved to show her feelings rather than tell.

She sought contact without even realizing it.

Liam used to tease her about it, about how she always hugged him or pressed a quick peck to his cheek rather than thanking him, or how she grabbed his hands whenever she got excited about a topic– almost to stress that whatever it was would’ve been even better once Liam was involved (she never said as much, of course).

He pretended not to like it, a muffled groan and a chuckle thrown her way every time. Maybe it would’ve looked believable, had it not been for the treacherous twinkle of amusement in his dark eyes. That, and the fact that he never once tried to pull away.

They’ve always fitted together, one way or another, and never gave it a second thought. But that was then.

The now is… not as simple.

It should be. Kassandra doesn’t dare to move, acutely aware of Li’s cheek pressed against her shoulder. He’d fallen asleep with his head against the window, but the motion of the car (or fate) had decided otherwise– so here they are, dark green hair tickling Kass’ neck as her heart pounds in her chest so fast that part of her is afraid the others will hear it.

The drive has been silent for a while. Sebastian occasionally checks on them through the rear-view mirror, and of course, Sebille has thrown a few glances at her sibling, lips pressed together to hold back a smile. But she was kind enough not to comment, something for which Kass is extremely grateful. Teasing isn’t something she could deal with right now.

Everything’s different now. Being near Liam used to be so comforting, like coming home from a long trip. It felt familiar.

Kassandra would give anything to have that back, to stop feeling the longing that invades her whole body every time she sees him. It’s a bone-deep ache that paralyzes her, steals her breath whenever they touch and inevitably settles into her ribcage once he pulls away (and he always does). It stings so much it’s almost unbearable at times, to the point where she doesn’t even realize it’s happening until she feels the tears streaming down her face.

Why isn’t it simpler? She can’t help but wonder why things can’t be like before. Why he started pulling away first whenever she reaches out, and why it seems to matter so much to her that he does.

Or why Liam resting his head on her shoulder wouldn’t have been a big deal just a few months ago, but it’s now causing this weird heaviness in her throat and Kass doesn’t know what she wants the most– to run away or to stay like this forever.

For a while there’s only stillness, as she tries to push those thoughts away. Then, slowly (hesitantly) she tilts her head until it leans against his. Sleep overtakes her not after shortly after.

8. What were their first impressions of each other?

omg tiny Kass was so quiet and 'proper', real-life cinnamon roll... when she first met Liam she was unimpressed LOL until he started bringing out the mischievous side she didn't know she had, then she kinda started idolizing him a bit, because he was wicked smart and looked so daring and self-assured! she immediately felt drawn to him,,, so overall a great first impression 😌 With Bas, Kass was mostly really confused/intrigued by the fact that he had immediately agreed to help but he was acting like *that*? and also, a tiny part of her (ok not so tiny) was in panic mode because oh no he's handsome and he's SO CLOSE

9. Have they made each other cry?

i can't see Kassandra making anyone cry unless it's happy tears, but she will definitely cry because of Li. (not sure about how the polymance will play out, maybe with Bas in the mix there will be less hesitation and therefore less pain lol but I imagine in a solo route Li will at some point try to do some damage control but end up with just more damage)

26. What are their favorite parts about physical affection/sex?

i think,,,, being together in that way allows all of them to receive attention in a way that is completely different from what they're used to. take Kassandra: she's constantly trying to take her of others and deflects all attempts to be the one being cared for; she's adamant about never being the centre of attention. all that changes when she's being intimate with them (whether it's sex or not), and she enjoys that change of dynamic! it was mentioned in different asks that it would be a v similar situation for both Li & Bas and like. i love it for them ngl

for Kass, it's definitely the sense of smell; she associates specific scents to both of them (cough cough the car scene) and she's one of those people who likes to keep clothes or blankets that smell like their so when they're apart, for comfort/cuddle reasons! i feel like i don't have a good enough grasp on Li and Sebastian yet so this might not be accurate but i'm gonna say- smell can work for Li as well, since they're so tactile (?) i can see them memorizing the scent of Kass' conditioner or Bas's cologne, stuff like that; and the more 'obvious' would be the sense of touch, i'm sure Li often imagines the touch of their lovers lingering on their skin, the way their lips brushed against each other and the warmth of their hands...🥺 for Bas i'd go with sight, he sees something that reminds him of Kass or Li and he goes *heart eyes* uwu ksjdk i also like the idea of him associating a certain taste with Kass or Li (Li in particular since they enjoy such distinctive flavours lol)... obviously feelings would be a big one for all of them as well!
