(hi do you have any angsty kastle headcanons cause i am in the Mood for Pain)
Karen has never fully forgiven Frank for the Schoonover shit, and for crashing into Ben’s car (her last tangible memory of him)
Frank knows that.
She takes a long way home because there’s a flower shop on the way between the new ‘temporary workspace’ of Nelson, Murdock & Page and just the smell of roses brings tears to her eyes. She blames it on late-onset allergies.
Every single time Frank sits in a diner he feels like he can just turn around and Karen will be there, a blonde in his periphery, but always out of sight.
Karen saves Frank’s burner cell numbers, while full well knowing he’ll never use the same one twice. It’s always stored under ‘home’.
Frank finds Karen after six months of silence, and he collapses on his knees in front of her, crying. Tired of playing Atlas to his problems in silence. Tired of pretending he isn’t scared.
If they ever get married, Karen wears her ring on the chain of her mother’s necklace and has a teenie tiny tattoo of ‘FC’ on the inside of her ring finger.
The nightmares don’t stop just because he’s happy, and Karen has a fool-proof routine for calming him back down, back to sleep. It involves holding his head in her lap, her fingers running through his hair (she loves it longer on top, short on the sides), humming a nameless tune, and gentle shushing.
Karen tells Frank about Fisk. About Wesley. About Kevin and Ben and all of it and he tells her that she doesn’t owe the world an apology for how she had to survive within it. That people fuck up. That he’s going to put a bullet between Fisk’s eyes the next morning.
