Write a scene from Katabasis in another character’s POV!! :0
After a lot of consideration, I decided to go with this section from Chapter 2:
"Gelfling." The word was bitter in old Wej's mouth.
Her fellow watch-Gruenak was blocking most of the lighthouse's narrow window, but since Lenev was much taller than him, she managed to peer past him, down at the two strange creatures climbing up the remains of the stone pier.
No one in Lenev's generation had ever seen a live Gelfling, but her elders had told stories of them. How their two races had once been friends, the Gelfling making their homes beneath the blinding suns and cold winds while the Gruenaks made theirs down in the warm, dark comfort of Thra's underground heart. How they had helped each other despite their differences, working together to build wonders like the lighthouse of Tel-Ataq.
How the Gelfling had turned on them in the end, betraying and slaughtering their former friends on the orders of their new masters, the Skeksis.
Lenev's golden eyes narrowed in the fading light. The male and female who had produced her had been the last victims of the Gelfling, kidnapped from the colony's old home by Sifan mariners when she was still an egg. After that, the survivors had made the long underground journey to the caves under Tel-Ataq, and until now, the stormy, isolated island had been safe.
"What should we do?" Lenev whispered to her elder.
Old Wej was silent for some moments. Below, the two Gelfling - one dark-haired, the other pale blonde - continued to explore the barren-looking island.
"Head back down, and tell the others to be ready. If they come near the underground entrance, kill them."
Lenev frowned. Her Gruenak elders might have warned her against Gelfling, but these two didn't look dangerous. They were quite young, no older than Lenev herself, and they carried no weapons.
And there were other stories she remembered too. The ones her favorite elder, the one-armed Podling who'd washed ashore when she was a childling, had sometimes told her. The ones where the Gelfling finally turned against the Skeksis, and remembered who their true friends were.
"Wouldn't it be better to capture them?" she spoke up. "We could at least find out where they came from, and if any more are coming."
Old Wej gave the younger, taller Gruenak a sharp look, but finally nodded. "All right. We'll take them alive."
