Tru Love (2013) directed by Kate Johnston

... is a movie about a lesbian with slight commitment issues who, at a friend’s house, meets said friend’s widowed mother. And they hit it off right away. So the first half or third of the film was as intriguing as I had found the trailer, but then certain plot twists and obstacles occurred that I didn’t quite buy. And in the end, this movie treads where oh so many have tread before... and it was shocking, ridiculous, sad. I could’ve even seen it coming, I guess--but is that ever a thing one wants to see coming, especially in a lesbian romance? Sigh. I was disappointed. I’d wish sad lesbian movies came with a warning. :(
