In my nursing studies we have to write a reflection about an incident that happened during our placement that fortnight. I always use gender neutral pronouns (they them), and my clinical teacher will _always_ discuss the reflection with me as though I had used he him pronouns. It- I just find it really interesting that even if 'they' was used continuously, my clinical teachers will assume I meant 'him' because that's their default? And I've had three clinical teachers and they've all been women and they all unfailingly do this and it's probably not really a big deal because the only people I am misgendered by are small children (and sometimes shop assistants??) so like on a person level it's not triggering. But it's just a bit shit and I want to yell at them but they grade me on my professionalism which is something they seem to think I don't have. Which I do, but not in the way they see it.
