Art tracer callout - Milizapiainc
First off, I’m going to address why I’m going about this anonymously. Although I can only imagine apologists being annoyed about this, I know I’m going to get some people that question it if I don’t explain myself.
I’m NOT doing it because I’m worried about my reputation or anything like that, there are actually a few reasons for it and I’ll list them for you. Feel free to skip past this part if it doesn’t remotely bother you:
It’s more objective. Not associating this call out with someone specific makes it less personal and you’re more likely to actually listen to what I have to say without bias.
I didn’t want to spam my own blog with a post like this as my followers don’t deserve to be subjected to a long ass deviantArt tracer call out post when it’s only really relevant to the people that know her and/or have purchased art from her.
I’m not using my regular deviantArt account as deviantArt for some reason treats posting about art tracers as harassment, and I don’t want my account to get banned over dA’s twisted policies on stealing art (which we should already know aren’t great based on things that have happened in the past).
To be honest, there are probably some people that already have an idea who this is, and that’s fine, I’m not hiding. I may even end up adding to this after I’m sure everyone that needs to see it has seen it and I’ll end up outing myself in that anyway.
So with that out of the way, let’s get onto the the main topic of this post, shall we?
DeviantArt user Milizapiainc is an art tracer. Practically all of her customs have been and still are being traced/heavily referenced from other people’s art without credit.
Here are some examples of her traced art
The last ones were posted after she was confronted, so we now know that she has no intention of stopping.
There are actually a lot more. I just removed the ones that weren’t as solid as they didn't appear to be traced line for line, but were likely heavily referenced or partially traced without credit. They definitely aren’t her own though, as she deleted them after the whole initial call out a little while ago. Plus the poses were pretty recognizable as sandflakedraws’ style just by looking at them.
She deleted some of the art that she traced, probably hoping no one would find out, but left art up that I guess she thought no one would notice. Or she traces so much that she can’t remember what’s traced and what isn’t. A large portion of her gallery is probably traced or at the very least heavily referenced (without credit) by this point based on how grossly dishonest she is and how little she seems to care about the consequences, but we now know that she doesn’t just trace from sandflakedraws, so it’s not as easy to spot right away if that’s all you’re looking for.
If you want to check her other art for signs of being traced, compare it to other art in her gallery and see if there’s a noticeable style difference that can’t be passed off as improvement. I’d also suggest looking at art on Pinterest as that’s where she seems to find most of the artwork she uses to trace from.
It wouldn’t be as huge of a problem if she wasn’t marketing this traced art as completely her own and selling it to unsuspecting buyers. The artists she’s tracing from do not give people permission to use their art this way so any argument that ‘she’s not tracing the entire design so it’s fine’ is automatically overruled based on this fact alone. If she wanted to be good and honest about it, she could use bases that artists have given public permission to be used for whatever she’s using them for, and then give full credit in the description as well as letting the person buying her art know beforehand that she’ll be using a base rather than drawing it completely herself.
Instead, she goes off and uses other artists’ art - many of which have turned out to be commissions and adopts themselves - without permission, thinking people won’t find out.
The worst part is, she doesn’t even seem to think that what she did was all that bad and continues to do it despite already being confronted, showing little remorse, instead opting for playing the victim for sympathy.
I don’t see how anyone can continue to support her when she continues to sell traced art, lies to her friends about the severity of it, and tries her best to shove it all under the rug rather than owning up to it and publicly apologizing.
Anyone continuing to blindly support her because you’re ‘fwiends!!!11!1!111’ despite now knowing the extent of what she’s doing is either getting played by her, or is just as bad for justifying and enabling what she’s doing. This might sound a little harsh, but to be perfectly honest, I think someone needs to be at this point.
If you think any of this is even remotely okay, please let me know, because I’d like to know who I should decidedly never associate myself with again. Thanks!!
And if you’re just as disgusted as I am (and rightly so), feel free to use this post to warn other people of this artist so that they never find themselves commissioning stolen/traced art from her.
Now, if this is Milly reading this, I have a few suggestions for you:
If you just can’t bring yourself to make your own art, please instead follow the example I already gave you above on how to use other people’s art resources properly.
If all you want to do is reference poses for personal art (not for art that you’ll be selling), again, you can follow the above instructions, but you could also use free stock images as long as you make it very clear that you’ve used them in the description. Using references for your art is completely fine and should actually be encouraged, as long as you give credit and have permission to use these resources. References can help improve your art, but please use them the right way.
If you really do feel remorseful, you should make a public apology post on deviantArt to show that you plan to change and don’t intend to hide anything from your watchers that deserve to know. Don’t sugar coat it. Don’t play the victim, because you’re not. Own up to your mistakes and show that you understand what you've done wrong, and tell them that you'll never do it again. In fact, if you genuinely plan to be honest and change for the better, you should link this post in the journal so that people can see for themselves. That would definitely earn back a little of the respect that I’ve lost for you.
Another drawing courtesy of @katefoxart. This one is my interpretation of the Crystal gems. It’s pretty old so that’s why Amethyst’s outfit hasn’t been updated. It’s kind of my interpretation of a casual look for all of them, or maybe their attempt to blend in. I really like the way I did rose’s hair. Click the links below for more by Katefox

So I love using @katefoxart‘s pose studies to draw outfits, here’s some I did for Princess Bubblegum a while ago. If you want to contact Kate-Fox click the links below. She is a wonderful artist and worth donating to on patreon.

Practising digital painting, and I used a base from @katefoxart ; who I’m supporting on Patreon! Please support her art!
Stretched it myself.
King Philip II Augustus of France and King Richard I the Lionheart of England.
Art commissioned by me, made by katefoxart.
Both of these historical figures are real people. I aspire to be a medieval historian and retelling their story through a series of novels and (hopefully) an anime series some day. Here is the most spot-on representations of my designs Richard and Philip I have ever seen, thanks to Kate’s incredible talent.
Please note: everything about the series I create in the future to be called Coeur de Lion will be historically accurate. If it gets turned into an anime, as I hope it will, they will take on an anime appearance. That is how they are represented in these paintings. Yes, I know they had beards, were not bishounen all their lives, and hair styles like that were not common by any means. I know. The point of them looking the way they do here is to fit the anime genre and attract a certain audience. Who would want to watch an anime on a bunch of grunting tough men with beards? Not many people.
Please go follow Kate-foX, watch her on dA, anything at all to show your support- she deserves it, and her commissions are worth every penny! Please consider investing in one some time.
