Apparently someone made a bi Dorian mod, sort of like the bi Cassandra mod last week, except instead of making a straight character bi, it’s erasing Dorian’s identity as a gay man (which is even more fucked up when considering his backstory, namely his father’s attempts at forcing him to like women, including literal mind control/brainwashing). This just makes me really, really angry because: the person who made the Cassandra mod did it mostly because lots of queer ladies were disappointed at not being able to romance her. People caused such an uproar and sent them so much hate that the person deleted the mod from the website and deleted their tumblr. Now, someone’s made a mod that completely erases Dorian’s identity (as the first gay romance option in this series) and as far as I’m aware, whoever made the mod hasn’t received nearly as much hatred from people. His entire storyline revolves around the fact that his sexuality is something that caused him great strife, and his own father’s attempts to change it, to change him, were what forced him to flee his own country because he feared for his life. His storyline is probably one of the best as far as gay characters go in general - his sexuality has a profound impact on him and his life, and yet, he is not simply “the gay guy.” He has his own story, his own motives, and is a character with the same level of complexity as the rest of the cast… and we need more characters like that.
And, now that someone’s made the gay man available to women, someone’s inevitably going to make the sole lesbian character available to men. Honestly, I’m surprised that didn’t happen already.
