I am wondering how crazy Armand gets because I want to mentally prepare myself to see Assad do crazy shit.

I tell you he's the perfect blend of cunty and crazy and there is no preparing for it we are just silly mortals in the world of assadmand😔

I did ♡ I was mostly awed by his acting process and radiant presence on the set, but I don't want to discuss this too much since I believe it's his own choice whether wants to share his acting techniques!

But otherwise he's very focused and fairly confident. It seems like he has a clear outline of who Armand is and follows it, which is why I’m reassured regarding the representation of this character on screen. There doesn't seem to be any confusion. We were so rapt watching the process... With the post-production editing and Daniel Hart's score I expect it to be even more magical, which is also another reason why fans are hesitant sharing any images or footage. It just won't accurately depict their vision and as awesome as it is it's just an intermediate product that is yet to be reviewed, edited, perfected (but AMC has confirmed some special features for fans post-s2, including interviews and behind the scenes content, so we'll definitely get to have a look into their process!)

Hi! What do you think the chances are of the show sanitizing Armand somewhat? Obviously they won't turn him into a wholesome 'nice guy', and I don't personally want them to tone him down at all, but I feel like most of the general audience will despise him permanently if he brutalizes and kills Claudia in this version. Do you think they'll make him less culpable (and remove the plotline of him keeping child slaves in cages!) or do you reckon we'll get the full Armand experience??

I have hopes, and do believe that they'll want to embrace Armand with all his manipulative and impish nature. There is so much versatility complexity and dark taboo themes to explore with him that are very suitable for a gothic horror show and can set a dark and alluring ambience. There is a LOT of Armand in season 2, Assad was filming no stop.

The only concern I have is them making Armand much worse in order to make Lestat look better or make him much better to make Lestat look worse. You know what I mean? I don't care as long as it's not a comparative relative thing. Armand does play an antagonistic role in this part of the book but I don't want it to become a war of 'who's the worst'. Armand definitely has toxic qualities that can be so fun to explore in a show such as this and it can be done in a way that conveys his loneliness, desperation and the tragedy of vampirism. I don't see a reason to remove it.

Plus I have a feeling Armand's toxicity and antagonism will be subtle rather than brutal (in the conventional sense). It stems from his lack of healthy coping abilities, not a deliberate need to harm someone. He can pull strings without becoming outright aggressive, and I expect a deep dive into emotional manipulation, rather than any physical fights or encounters.

I want there to be a Denis because it reflects Armand's tyrannical past, alludes to Devil's Minion in some way, but I hope he won't be a child.

I think they might plan to keep marketing Lestat as a villain for now so that they can do a big reveal of his sweeter TVL-style personality in the show. He shouldn’t look that sinister in his red cape, it utterly contradicts that time of his life - I hope it’s all a big red herring

Also correct! They'll play around and reassign the antagonist/protagonist roles constantly throughout the course of the story and it's so easy to do this smoothly by switching perspectives and exploring the biases and narratives of each teller. There is never a definite fixed antagonist in the story, the roles are fluid.

I have a feeling they'll continue with the Antagonist Lestat narrative for the larger part of the season and at first introduce Armand as his opposite but then slowly provide some insight into their backstory and Armand's dark and manipulative nature, kind of equalling them out and providing an alternative view of Lestat before we step into season 3 - The Vampire Lestat, as confirmed officially by Rolin Jones.

Although Lestat is definitely the antagonist of the first book, Armand doesn't lack antagonistic features either and it'll be so interesting to see how they shape the audience's understanding of these characters.

I also think what people forget to mention a lot of the time is the fact that while Armand was definitely infatuated with Louis in Paris, he's been a fucking whore for Lestat for like- forever, lol. So he's interested in him, too, and he sees Louis as a link to Lestat. Armand is so desperate for love and approval that his antagonism is almost endearing. Like WE KNOW he kills Claudia because he's obsessed with Louis and his humanity, something he'd abandoned ever since joining and running the cult. We KNOW he chases Lestat because he has the boldness to break free from the rules that Armand has been bound to for so long. He KNOWS the cult is holding him back, and we as the audience understand his motivations for seeking these relationships but holy shit does he do it in some dirty ways. I feel like he'll live up to the title of an antagonist of a sort, too, it'll simply be in a different style than Lestat and his outright assholeness lol.

Can I just say that you can literally just LOOK at this gif. JUST LOOK and you know exactly the range of emotions that he's feeling. Even out of context, you'd be able to tell he's about to pop lmao. You can see him absolutely seething on the inside, that growing violent outburst ripening even though he freezes in place for a bit. That's a perfect portrayal of passive aggressiveness for a moment, before it becomes... NOT SO PASSIVE LMAO. Sam Reid I nominate you for the Golden Globes here is your trophy 🏆

I can’t and won’t share anything that I saw, but it was an honour experiencing what I did ♡ That entire team is a GODSEND to us, fans. They are so passionate and elaborate - every detail is carefully considered and perfected to its maximum.

I can only say that I’m assured about the superb quality of some of the s2 aspects I got to see and I think the fan base will be very pleased!
