im reading through his book of kathryn right now and.... i am not Impressed w it. i keep having to stop and take breaks.

godspeed lmao. when i first read it, i thought it was... not great, but certainly not the worst biography on her of all time. just nowhere near as good as gareth clearly thought it was. but i reread it this month out of boredom and my opinion on it has definitely soured. i forgot how cynical and mean-spirited it was, and how outdated his interpretation of her actually is (the argument of katherine as this dumb, but genial girlwoman who enjoyed sex and was too spoiled to accept not getting what she wanted was the favourite interpretation of her in the 90s!) plus there’s this vibe that i got from his conclusion that the reader was basically dumb for caring enough to read about her because nothing about her mattered - idk what that says about him as the writer, but there you are.
