Playlist : songs that you sang when you were younger and now you're ashamed of because of what they really mean. :)
I wouldn't say I'm ashamed of anything I may have sung, but here are some songs I sung that I only realized what they were about when I got older. (And I probably won't ever sing #4 ever again.) Talk about eye-opening!
1. She-Bop by Cyndi Lauper (it's about masturbation)
2. Dancing with Myself by Billy Idol (also about masturbation)
3. 17 by Winger (the lyrics aren't misleading- he's hot for a 17 year old. Didn't seem so gross when I was 17. Now? What a fuckin' creepy old man!)
4. Brown Sugar by The Rolling Stones (well before my time, but my father was a DJ and had an extensive record collection- this song is horribly offensive.)
5. My Sharona by The Knack (also before my time, but who doesn't know it? It's about an older guy hot for a barely-legal girl.)
6. I Don't Like Mondays by The Boomtown Rats (Not about how shitty Mondays are, but instead, about Brenda Ann Spencer, the 16-year old who shot a gun into a school ground in 1979, killing 2, and injuring 9. When asked why she did it, she replied, "I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day.")
7. Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen (Not the pro-American rally song that most people think it is.)
