The Selene Vedema Returns to Katikies Garden

After the great success of its revival in September 2022, Selene Vedema is evolving once again into a yearly institution, celebrating the Santorinian vineyard and its people in the magical setting of Selene Restaurant.

It was over a decade ago that the late Giorgos Hatzigiannakis, creator of the emblematic Selene restaurant, brought to life the first Selene Vedema*. A celebration of the unique wines of Santorini, which was destined to become one of the most famous wine exhibitions in Greece, if not the world. But the Selene Vedema was much more than just a wine festival, it was the unitive initiative that brought together all the wine makers of Santorini, coexisting and collaborating under the same roof, and most importantly serving the same purpose: making the island’s wines known to the world.

This significant institution unfortunately ceased to exist a few years ago. But last year the magic of the Santorinian vineyard and its people filled once again the stunning spaces of the iconic Selene, as the Selene Vedema was brought back to life, thanks to the inspired vision and hard work of the restaurant’s new owners in collaboration with Yiannis Karakasis MW.

So, it is with great pride and honor that we now announce the evolution of the Vedema into a yearly institution, serving in the best possible way the wines and the people of Santorini. Vedema 2022, apart from the actual wine exhibition by the wine makers themselves, was enriched with sophisticated workshops, fascinating wine tastings, unique dining experiences, honorable guests from all over the world, inspiring art projects and important happenings and events. And that is exactly how we plan to continue this beautiful journey through the 4.000 years old wine scene of Santorini Island: respecting the past and boldly stepping into the future. Vedema 2023 is going to be the most amazing experience for wine lovers all over the globe, and we invite you to do us the honor and celebrate with us the magnificence of the unique wines of our island.
