KATIPS (2022) Film Review
Katips was decent. I think there are some aspects of the musical that didn't translate well in the film, some shots were meh, but the overall intention and message of the film were delivered.
The actors were great, I think this is a given since most of them have a background in theater. There is nuance in the delivery of the dialogue, that sometimes it almost sounded too real.
They didn't sanitize the regime's brutality, presented lingering shots of torture, and covered issues like red-tagging, censorship, police brutality, and class struggle.
The film did not frame Ninoy or Cory as the icons who restored our democracy. It showed the struggles and triumphs of the masses, the real heroes of the revolution who stood up for justice and freedom.
