Mission accomplished The Katy Trail was a total success for my 5-mile tempo this morning. Warmup jog over to the trail head and then kicked it up to tempo pace. I took manual splits using the markers on the ground (hopefully accurate) and destroyed my target of 6:45/mi: 6:27 6:29 6:30 6:24 6:23 I knew I was going too fast, but I decided to just run even when the second split was just as fast. A lot of it had to do with the straight flat path and that I was running in just t-shirt and shorts. A very encouraging run in the second week of my official plan for the Shamrock Shuffle 8K. Dropping down to 6:00 goal race pace would probably be a stretch right now, but I'm getting closer.
