Eventually, hunger wins out. Though Mikhaila is quite used to going without- it shows, when she removes her clothes, in the way skin clings to muscle, it shows in the faint hollows of her cheeks and the long thin nature of her fingers- there is always a point when even she must give in. She shoves the dresser out of the way and looks around the place, finds the kitchen and loots it for anything edible. ‘Anything’ is, it turns out, quite a lot, and she gluts herself with no care for who else lives here (she noted the names on the doors, but they’re only names, for now, abstracts), then looks around a bit more before she finds her way to the staircase to ascend.

Ten floors is very little, compared to the amount of activity she’s used to doing on a daily basis, and she takes them slow, careful, listening for that odd hum, like electricity, that often preceeds the typhon. Nothing. Nothing, all the way up, until she pushes through the door at the top-

There’s nothing. Or rather, there’s not nothing, but there is a distinct lack of Coral- no pulsing yellow-orange-gold strands of light hovering in the air, sending awe and chills down the spine, just sandy beaches and soft lapping waves, and it staggers her, literally, causing her to trip ungracefully off the ledge that the door exits out to. She takes in a sharp breath, catches herself, straightens, and notes- birds, larger than they should be, too colorful, islands in the distance, and on the horizon, a sun too warm, too placid to be the one she’s used to. This place can’t be real. It’s too.... It’s too....

There’s a person, not too far away. She wrests control of her legs back and takes long strides to reach them, eyes bright and intense and accent thick with emotion as she says, curt, “Excuse me. Where are we? How did we come to be here?”

The Ark could be anything. She wants to know what it is.
