He hasn’t been to Jubilife in a long time. There isn’t that muscle memory of the streets he has with Veilstone or Eterna or Sunyshore; places he’s found sanctuary and solace in. And if Veilstone seems a lifetime ago, Jubilife is even more foreign. He gets lost, briefly, trying to find the trainers’ school. Just long enough to lose himself in the crowd for a few peaceful moments, a luxury he hasn’t had in a long time.
The bustle of the city is calming. A long coat and a bit of lipstick provides Cyrus with an anonymity he hasn’t had since coming back publicly as Galactic Boss, and it’s strangely nice being able to stop at a coffee shop along the way and not be recognized, just ushered along like the rest of the mid-afternoon customers. He walks out with black tea for himself (extra hot and bitter but not strong enough; he’ll make do), and a plain coffee for her.
Maybe he’s feeling sentimental. It’s been seven years for the rest of the world, but he still remembers setting a cup out for her every morning. He’s still feeling sentimental a short walk later, standing in front of the doors to the school. Cyrus stands outside for what could have been hours, until he checks his Poketch and it’s been scarcely thirty seconds. Funny what time is doing to him lately.
The woman working in the front office doesn’t bother him, at least. Just points him in the direction of the appropriate classroom when he asks. Somehow Cyrus assumed it would be more complicated than that, but he’s sure the trouble is yet to come. Is sure of it when he leans his shoulder against the door frame of the nearly empty classroom--empty except for them. He doesn’t knock, doesn’t completely enter the room, doesn’t announce his presence before speaking and extending the coffee cup in one leather-gloved hand; an offering from a safe distance.
“I never pictured this is where you would have gone after everything dissolved.” A pause, just long enough for a quiet sigh and the flutter of eyelashes as Cyrus picks somewhere to look that isn’t at Logan. “It’s been a long time, Europa.”
