Nine People I'd Like to Know Better

Last book: Titanium Noir by Nick Harkaway

A snarky detective book where Cal is investigating a murder of a Titan. Titans are modified humans that are stronger, long-lived, bigger, etc. and people with money and power have easy access to this.

Honestly, I picked this up because I heard that fight scenes were good and I needed to learn some for my fanfic. I ended up enjoying it a lot. And it looked like even the author enjoyed writing it. Short and (the conclusion left me a little) bittersweet.

Last song: This is hard and barely reflective because I just use my Liked Songs in shuffle all the time. Apparently, Paradise by INFINITE.

I had my K-pop phase as a kid. Nowadays, these keep me from getting bored in the car. I don't like driving.

Last film: I think... KPop Demon Hunters?

Last series: House of Dragons... I think. 🤔 I don't watch things often, I'm having to think hard.

Sweet or salty: Sweet. But not too sweet. Would kill for a good cake right now.

Tea or coffee: Tea! I always drink green tea with honey. British breakfast tea and Earl Grey are also good.

But recently I've been drinking more decaf coffee because it's readily available and I needed a change of flavour. I love coffee-flavoured things and not so much the coffee, so it's dunked in hella milk.

It used to be crab flavor, but lately either the flavor itself has changed or my taste perception has changed

Now I prefer sour cream & onion chips

Though in general, I try to eat fewer chips nowadays

That is something he himself can't even answer, at least not for himself? For others it's simple, to be the best one can be and have something to wake up for gladly in the morning - in what form that may come. Lorrenar has spent a lot of his life drifting and switching back and forth between being a priest, member of the choir and martial occupations.

When Lorrenar became a blood knight, he was among the first to take the pledge - it horrifies him and he still very much regrets the actions he did then. Given how ruthless he was at the time, and how he now views his actions in bolstering himself in stolen radiance - his tether to the Light is fragile. Now he deems himself unworthy of the role of a priest, and he acts as though he believes deep down his true purpose is to repent for his tenure as one of the Sunfury.

His own actions, even if done under the influence of malignent outside influences. Allies have ended up hurt by what he has done, never on purpose but from his actions none the less. In recent RP developments he lost his abilities to call upon the Light temporarily at the later stages of my wonderful DM's campaign ( shoutout to @yffres-chosen, one of the coolest people i know! :] ) There was a moment before the finale where Lorrenar approached Itzamnaair, having an honest talk about self-forgiveness and still finding purpose in life in the absence of the divine. Things that weren't necessarily foreign concepts to Lorre, but still unthinkable enough that he doubted it. Not the Troll's words, but rather if that was something possible for him to follow through on. When they ended the conversation, it was enough for him to calm his mind, at least just a little bit. A tentative willingness to believe he is worthy still, despite his past actions and despite being 'abandoned'.

Which made it all the more soulcrushing for him when I rolled low and he ended up attacking one of his allies in a blind rage :) On top of seeing Itza being mangled and mortally wounded before his eyes! That was the final thread of his conviction snapping, and since then he's been in a religious crisis. But to let things end on a more positive note, he's been dabbling in music lately.... ---

23. a hobby you tried but didn't stick with?

I once tried to become a fanfiction writer and even wrote a Maiev x Illidan story (in Russian and not on AO3), but later I decided that it didn't turn out very well, so it's better for me to remain a reader (and besides, the inspiration hasn't really come back since then)

30. what are your opinions on the person asking?

I think you're a kind person and definitely a wonderful artist and writer who loves Anduin. You're a very creative individual, and I wish you even more strength, time, and success in creating many more works

21. Tea, coffee or hot cocoa (important)

If I had to rank only these drinks, the order would be: tea (without sugar), hot cocoa, coffee (definitely with milk, and maybe with sugar).

In practice, though, I only drink tea, water, or store-bought juices/kvass (unfortunately, I often can’t resist buying a bottle of juice or kvass when I go shopping).

But my mom has repeatedly advised me to start drinking coffee with milk — I have low blood pressure and often get headaches or feel drowsy — and coffee helps normalize blood pressure

9. antiheroes or sympathetic villains?

Honestly, I’m NOT good at classifying things like that or telling them apart. So I can’t really give a clear answer to this question.

Let me just show some examples of villains and/or antiheroes instead:

Joker (from the movies — I haven’t read the comics) — I don’t like him. I don’t understand people who are obsessed with him (though I don’t judge them). Heath Ledger’s version is impressive because of the actor’s performance — and the only moment when I actually “appreciated” the character’s action was when he burned all the money. Joaquin Phoenix’s version sometimes makes me feel sympathy — but mainly because of his illness. Still, in both versions (not even mentioning the others), I don’t like the character, and he has to be caught and put in prison (Gotham really needed someone like Barrow Deeps led by Maiev).

Thanos — I don’t like him either. I don’t even understand his reasoning (wiping out half of all life makes no sense mathematically — everything would just repopulate in a few generations). Just another being who thinks of himself as a “god” and judge of fate.

Arthas Menethil (Warcraft III) — a true villain. But in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne I actually grew to respect him — I admired his determination, fanatical loyalty to Ner’zhul, his resolve, his boldness. Especially compared to Illidan, who kept dodging and hesitating before Kil’jaeden. I know that in the same situation, Arthas would’ve killed me without mercy, while Illidan probably wouldn’t have even bothered (too proud to fight a mere mortal). Still, I respect this undead version of Arthas. In the battle against Illidan, I was completely on his side. I know it’s strange — I don’t like evil, and he is pure evil — but somehow even that deserves respect (in the game, of course).

Miraak (Skyrim, Dragonborn DLC) — he’s portrayed as a villain, but aside from trying to kill the main character and enslave the minds of the people of Solstheim, he didn’t really do much else. Honestly, I feel sorry for him — he was just a pawn in the hands of Hermaeus Mora, who gladly betrayed him in exchange for knowledge and a new “champion.”

Dagoth Ur (Morrowind) — again, another antihero/villain who does bad things. But I feel sorry for him too — he has a history with Nerevar, and I lean toward believing that Nerevar was killed by the Tribunal, while Dagoth Ur tried to save him (they were friends). His main goal was to take revenge on the Tribunal and their followers. To be honest, I’d side with him.

And that’s not even the full list (I could share my thoughts on every negative character). Can Arthas or Miraak really be considered villains on the same level as Thanos? Maybe. But as you can see, I’m very irrational and subjective

9. do you still sleep with stuffed animals?

Paradoxically, I don't remember sleeping with stuffed animals at all in childhood. But about half a year ago, I started doing it :)

In reality, it's because my friend gave me a hug pillow shaped like a cat - and I mostly use it as a pillow. Before that, my regular pillow was what I used to hug before sleep, but now that function is handled by the plush toy, and I'm really happy about it, hehehe

26. favourite kid's show character?

Honestly, I don't really have one. I watched quite a lot of kids' shows:

- Luntik & His Friends

- Masha & the Bear

- KikoRiki

- Lilo & Stitch

- Tom & Jerry

- The Emperor's New School

- Donald Duck

- Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

etc

But in none of them did I like the characters enough to really get attached to them, empathize with them, or consider them favorites. I think that's because everything in kids' shows happens quite quickly - a problem appears and is resolved fairly fast and relatively painlessly

If I had to name a favorite anyway, it would be Krash from KikoRiki. I like his optimism
