My Commanders. 3/6/17
Halfway through chapter 12 of The Scholomance by r lee smith and i have many thoughts but just one pressing one rn.
WHY is mara like this?
Why does she do the things she do?!
She keeps acting like shes untouchable, and on par with these demons but shes not! The arrogance is aatounding! Its giving "ive never been told no in my life and i just manipulate people into doing what I want" which granted...yes that was exactly her life, but you cant always be the smartest person in the room mara jesus. Listen to the people who have been there longer than you!
3 people(things..demons..) have already warned you about trying to play big fish in a small pond & yet u still walk around with a big stank "better than thou" air bubble. Mara, you're not even the big fish sweetie. You're like..a tadpole in the ocean. Act accordingly. Tread carefully.
The laughing and sarcastic remarks from Kazuul and Horuseps? Theyre not laughing with you babygirl. I promise they're not. You are the joke. The joke is you. A joke you are, and a joke you will remain. You just cant see it yet.
Also...quit being a bitch. Its not helping you get any closer to finding Connie. Probably hindering you tbh. You would think your years of mind reading would have gave you enough emotional intelligence to clue you in on that, but guess not!
And I'm with Devlin. I don't think you really care about Connie either, and for the life of me i cant see why she would care about you.
But besides all of that. This book is making me feel things, and I love when books make me feel things.

Falaises de Kazuul
I love it when just one innocious card has a whole lot of backstory. Take Kazuul’s Toll Collector. Just who is Kazuul and why is an ogre collecting toll for them? Why does his ability let him equip for free? Who are these travelers?
Ogres on Zendikar are between 12 and 15 feet tall, or roughly between 3,5 and 4,5 meter for everyone using a logical system of measurement. (Really..) These ogres are driven by greed, by cruelty. They aren’t good at making things, neither buildings nor clothes or armor. It’s all makeshift and falls apart quickly.
Kazuul is a big Ogre, commanding an army of slaves. He’s a cruel person on the lookout for lucrative deals. He resides on the continent of Murasa, with incredibly steep cliffs on the shore.
See, Kazuul is a businessman. His boot doesn't have to be the last thing you see before a splattery death far below. His chained slaves don't have to wage war on your expedition, using their superior knowledge of the Murasan wilds to their advantage, crushing skulls with native Murasan rocks. All he asks—all he asks!—is a tribute. Just a simple compensatory sum to be determined by him and to be paid in full immediately upon attempted ascent of the cliffs. Just a symbolic recognition that he, Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs, reigns over the pass, and that you tread it with his consent.
The Tyrant of the Cliffs by Doug Beyer
Kazuul is a petty tyrant, demanding tribute from everyone who dares to venture into what he considers his lands. If you don’t pay up, you risk getting thrown off the cliffs, or, perhaps worse, becoming a part of Kazuul’s slave army.
Slavery is not just a normal practice for Zendikari orcs, it’s tradition and important for their culture. It’s custom for the loser of a fight to become enslaved by the victor.
While Kazuul didn’t get a card in the new block, the presence of his Toll Collector shows he’s still alive. Maybe we’ll see him again, later.
