Recommendation: Record of Ragnarok (Season 1, 2021) creators: Masao Ōkubo, Kazuya Fudeyasu cast: Miyuki Sawashiro, Tomoyo Kurosawa, Wataru Takagi In one word? FUN! In more than one word? I think "Record of Ragnarok" is everything that a Mortal Kombat motion picture should be, but with the added bonus of mythological references. The amount of fun I had during the first season of this crazy adventure cannot be measured in words. It has history, it has mythology, it has some amazing fight scenes, it has some creative redesigns of cliched characters, what else can you want? Trying to be impartial though, if you don't like anime tropes like overexpressive characters, a lot of yelling, each thrust of the weapon being accompanied by a 6 minute flashback or characters changing emotions 10 times in one scene, then you will not be able to finish this show. Unlike some of the more Americanized animes that can be found in Netflix's library, "Record of Ragnarok" is unapologitecally retirning to the loud and confusing days of animes of yore; whether that can be seen as a positive for some or negative for the others. But, even though that does get in the way sometime, I still think "Record of Ragnarok" is a show that deserves a big watch. It's only 12 episodes which is not much for an anime, or animated show in general, and even though that 12 episodes only has 3 fights in total, the journey through each fight is a really enjoyable one. It's big, it's exaggerated, it's a mashup of mythology and history, it's "Record of Ragnarok". So yeah, put down whatever you have in your hand and go watch this show, even if only to see Poseidon get some well-deserved recognition as the most badass Greek god ever. #recordofragnarok #masaoōkubo #kazuyukifudeyasu #miyukisawashiro #tomoyokurosawa #watarutakagi #action #anime #tvshow #mythology #history #ak88recommendation https://www.instagram.com/p/CQeWDbxA669/?utm_medium=tumblr
