they didn’t in season 2 and probably won’t start in season 3. perhaps the whole series is some kind of manifestation of a bored monk’s fantasy who’s actually a wizard

Yes! that scene got me puzzled as well. I thought it was a vision, but by whom? weird.

But at least with the season 2 visions it was clearer that it was all happening in Athelstan's head. Now it's all too unclear, did it happen for real? was it athelstan's visions? was it lagertha's vision? all the women have gotten visions after all.

I really love how Vikings keeps me invested with the story, they usually always take a different path than I expected (I really hope I'm wrong on my thoughts that Siggy will die this season too). But the one thing that this show isn't really good at is giving closure at some points. I'm still sad we didn't get Björn's reaction to Gyda's death, or how Rollo is suddenly super friendly with Floki again (I could swear I've seen a promo with a still sickly looking Rollo in it) and we're also still in the dark as to how long both Floki and Siggy had been playing along with Ragnar to overthrow Horik.

idk this may be simply bc i’m female but i think she’s trying to accept the fact that she won’t bring another life into the world so she’s willing to risk more. this is not about romance, for neither of them.

No that really makes sense cause its clear from the beginning of this season with the seer that she wanted to know if she would bring life into this world. She also knows she will die at some point so maybe being vulnerable wasn't such a bad thing. I think she's trying to do what she can even though she can't fulfill those female standards of viking culture.
