All right, so I'm going to give all the people who don't have cars, or who don't have a license some life advice for a second. About a month ago, I received mail from a company saying I used a tunnel to get to Portsmouth Virginia. Now, if you know me, you sure as hell know that I don't go anywhere. Sure as hell no Portsmouth Virginia. Not even when I went to visit Dustin (not to mention, when I had used a tunnel to get to him, it was a no toll tunnel. Also, the date was at the wrong time for that to be the cause) had I went to Portsmouth. Now, the mail said I had owed 5$ for the use of a tunnel I never even went in. No picture came with it of my car license plate, nothing. Just my license plate number (and tbh, I don't even know why I didn't go compare it to my license plate to make sure they hadn't gotten the wrong person but hindsight and being new to the whole shit will do that to you) and the warning that if I did not pay, I would be charged even more. I call them up, ask the desk lady what was going on and she said I was in the books for it despite every denial I had to the use of the tunnel. So, me being me, I stop caring and fork over the 5$. My dad came downstairs not long after and after I told him, he told me to call back and ask them to send me a picture of the care that they say they caught my car on, since they never sent me one in the first place. I call back - I felt bad for the lady, but not bad enough not to ask- and that was that. Fast forward to today? Still no picture to be seen in the mail. As far as I know, the 5$ either made it so they would stop bothering me about it, the lady never gave enough shits about sending my photo, or it was all a fucking ruse. Tl;dr, always back check everything. You won't even think about it, but you really need to double check for this kind of shenanigans. Compare your license plate, ask for a photo before payment- fucking hold them at arms length before you even get near your credit/debit card to pay out of fear for being double charged. 5$ isn't a lot, but it was obviously stolen from me now that I look back at it, and that's stupid as shit.
